Moone-Tsai Vineyards Black List IX

Moone Tsai : This had a very prominent funky railroad tie nose. On the palate, a little bit of the same, with a decent core of dark red/black fruit with some earth and spice. A fairly significant clamp on the back end gave the overall delivery a somewhat linear presence. This wine hails from the Caldwell site in southern Napa (block 15). 88-90 points.

Dark, viscous and lush on the tongue showing mint, menthol, black fruit, pepper and olive. The finish is longer than "long". The tannins are perfect and balanced. After 10 minutes of air the nose was full of cassise, pepper and violets. The interesting part is the BL-IX has a second gear or another dimension of brown sugar and kettle corn during the finish that makes this wine special.
