This wine was decanted and than enjoyed over 5 hours. Nice dark purple red color with some lightening at the edges Loads of plum and currant with a hint of vanilla on the nose. Palate was more plummy but with a crushed rock minerality that I just love about Priorat red wines. Good balance and structure with loads of fruit, good acidity and sandy tannins. I think I've mishandled, and therefore maligned, this wine in the past. Decanted, then poured out a glass yesterday, left the rest for 24hours in the closed decanter. Deep ruby color, and full bodied as before. Black cherries, black currants, and meat aromas on the nose, this time much more harmonious. And the palate! Deep ruby color. Opened and poured through Venturi; started cloudy, but an hour later had clarified in the glass. This was significantly better than last bottle, but perhaps I should adjust for low expectations this time. (Black) cherries, cassis, and meat aromas, with just a whiff of leather. Embarrassed by this bottle, as it doesn't hold a candle to the 2000, brought to same Easter dinner. Similar nose of red fruit and smoked meat, but way out of balance on the palate, with too much wood in evidence, and not very nice to drink.

Isaac's Rooftop Tasting (Washington, D.C.) : dark purple color in the glass. the nose has some paint, rasberry jam and a bit of minerals. its really big on the palate, but time has mellowed it out a bit. very well balanced. just deliciously dense and fruity.
