My fault for leaving it in cellar until far after it's prime, but was only still barely ok. Was musty when first uncorked, but opened up a couple hrs after decanting. Fell apart structurally.

4th Saturday Group Cellar Diminishment (Sue’s) : Aromas of currants, plum and dried herbs. Medium tannins, with cedar and black currant flavors. Lingering finish. Drinking nicely at the moment. (SS)

14.5% alcohol, sturdy foil, real cork, more brown than red but with red glints, long legs, light fruit nose, tannins & alcohol muted, bing cherries, pears, lychee, a little citrus-like zing; very pleasant finish but not long-lasting; not very complex -- more of a 'background' wine, delicious in its own way, a textbook example of the smoothness that is achieved by aging; so the advice of 'drink 2008-2012' can be lengthened by at least four years and probably even longer, …

We thought this wine might have passed its prime, but decanting it and letting it open up for an hour or so made a big difference.

Quite a nice and rich Syrah. Went well with our Thanksgiving dinner. Got better as the night went on. Let it breath for ar least a few hours to open up. Big dried berries, good finish.

I definitely like where this wine is at right now. Decanted it for an hour and initial nose of tobacco, earth, cherry, and blackberry. Some heat initially. Medium body with tannins fully integrated into the wine. Touch of leather on the nose as the wine settles into the glass. This wine has progressed very nicely over the years. I envision this wine has another 1...maybe 2 max before it declines. I would have rated it an 88 or 89 if …

I decanted this wine for two hours before drinking. I was a little disappointed that the fruit still seemed to be rather reserved. I did get a bit of blackberry and very faint tobacco on the nose. The taste was muted and the acid is fading, making the wine a little on the flat side. Flavors of cherry, berries, and earth. The last bottle I had a year ago showed much better. Definitely drink up, this wine is starting to …

Not great. We popped and poured. Hoped that it just needed some time to open up, but still not great. Very acidic. Fruit has faded if it was ever there. Now there's maybe a bit of stewed flavor. Not much structure left to it.

Birthday and Mother's Day wines; 5/10/2014-5/11/2014 (Rocknroller's (Kevin & Vicki's Place)) : Very dark red color. Decanted for 20 minutes. Drank 1 glass over 40 minutes. I was not as excited about this today. It seemed to be showing a lot of oak and there was also some heat on the palate. The nose has cassis, berry, brown sugar, oak. The palate has medium full body, oak, black cherry, cassis, spice, slightly firm tannins and some heat. Glad this was …

Very dark red color. Decanted for 30 minutes and consumed over 2+ hours. Definitely needed the time to open still. The nose has some very lovely red berry notes along with blueberry and mulberry, cassis, chocolate, and some oak. The palate has a nice mouthfeel, dusty and full bodied, tobacco, red berries, mulberry, cassis, spices and oak. The tannins are smooth and integrating . The finish is medium. The oak is present but not obnoxious and seems to integrate fairly …

This was supposed to be a bit past its prime but it aged beautifully. One of the best RN wines I've had in a few weeks. bright, deep fruit notes - ripe raspberries, cherries. Medium finish. The wine looks purple colored. The legs are fast. There is light sediment in the bottle. It smells like raspberry and cherry. It tastes like strawberry, raspberry, cherry and cinnamon. The body is light/medium. The wine has smooth texture. The wine finishes medium. The …

Black garnet, black cherry, bold primary fruit with perfumed oak and healthy tannin. Perfect with Thanksgiving feast. Drink now over the next two years as not sure if the secondary expression of this Rutherford Syrah fruit would be as appealing. CA Syrah should be served coolish at 16-18 C.

- Garnet color and has flavours of blackberry and prune - This is OK: tart, not real strong, good tannins. Of the Rubicon wines this is mid-range. Cask and Edizone are by far superior.Good with food but not standalone. Decanted for 1/2 hour and it killed the tartness.

Drank this along with the 05. Very little difference in them - very consistent. The nose on both had subtle fruit, both very smooth with long finish. The 06 had a bit more spice, tobacco, and cedar on the palate. The 06 was bit better overall.

Dark red color. Decanted for 1 hour, drank 2 glasses over an hour plus. Nose shows dust, dry earth, dried herbs, blueberry, red and black currants. The palate is medium full bodied, soft tannins, briary, cassis, spice, medium finish. This has improved considerably, but still needs decant time.

Dark red color. I tend to agree with many of the comments about this not being typically pinot like, but given time it did develop. On day one this was a mess, lots of alcohol on the palate and bitter tannins, virtually no fruit, and a tight nose. I thought that an 85 might be a bit high actually. Decided to let it sit. 24 hours later this was integrated and a completely different wine. The nose had opened and …

Perhaps abit young but not all that good. As I have railed before the Captains series which replaced the Directors series at Coppola/Rubicon is often an evil one must endure to source thier much better wines as part of the club. Even if it is now almost all estate fruit this was still pretty dull. Hints of strawberries and sour plums on the nose with hint of pepper and spice on the palate with almost no finish
