Tasted on a rather busy evening of wine tasting. Very ripe character, bordering on over-ripe. I always enjoy the noticeable acidity and definition in Barbera d'Alba but didn't get much of that here. What it does deliver is a lot of fruit, so much will come down to your preferences and expectations. Slightly out of balance.

Candied raspberry, just not overdoing it. Balance is rather towards the sweet, with some fruity acids, but not enough to make this a 90+ barbera for me. All the more since I am missing additional - secondary, tertiary - flavours to give it that extra quality. Nice and fresh, but on the simple side. Still partnered quite well with a simple spaghetti caruso.

A classic of the 'palate is better than the nose' genre. Dark, lustrous ruby hue. Touches of balsamic and macerated red cherry. Broad, soft and brightly flavoured in the mouth. There's lots of energy here and it has a marvellous soft texture. Acidity is high, naturally, which brings the balsamic character forward. Darker cherry and raspberry fruit develops with a touch of earthy liquorice and nutmeg on the end. Satisfaction was achieved. 14% ABV DIAM 5 cork

Fresh and fruity. Lively. Spicy. Really fun.

Ein relativ einfacher aber doch schöner Barbera, leicht gekühlt ein perfektes Match zu Grillfleisch.

At winery with Elisa Scavino - 2011 Barbera, 2010 Langhe Nebbiolo, 08 Bricco Ambrogio, 08 Monvigilero, 08 Cannubi, 08 Bric del Fiasc. A very clean expression of Barbera - does not see any wood - all stainless - A powerful floral component with lavenders and fig with earl gray tea notes and very elegant. A very enjoyable Barbera with a generous finish.
