Please note: A. I am an amateur. B. I have no idea what I am talking about. After enjoying this over 2 nights and seeing the CT score of 87, I felt compelled to chime in. The amount of average wines I see with a 90+ point score on here, is head scratching to me. This wine, is far above average IMO. Especially when you consider the price point ($21). Very unique and interesting wine. Smokey right off the bat. I feel like I smell and taste the Gamay more than the Pinot Noir. Maybe that's just Johan vineyard characteristics though. Also may have guessed Cab Franc blind bc of the pyrazines. So quirky but I didn't find it pleasant. Tastes a little natty or french Loire? A different Oregonian for sure.

Really tastes like the Johan vineyard, if that makes sense. It has that distinct herbal thing I get from their grapes/wines. Light at 12.5% abv and perhaps just a tad lean, though think bottle age will help it fill out. Certainly fresh, lively, juicy and fun.

Has that just bottled profile, needs time. Higher toned with pepper and wet stones. Lots of fruit density and 12.5% alc, fantastic structure. Insane. Seems to be the way of 2019. Should do wonders in the cellar.

I found this a bit disappointing. Had high hopes for this producer and the blend of 65% pinot noir and 35% gamay. PNP. Solid ruby color. Medium intensity on the nose - initially some savory elements which gave way to red and black fruits. Somewhat displeasing astringency on the palate and overall felt out of balance.
