Horton Vineyards Côtes d'Orange

Transluscent maroon/brick color in the glass, this Virginia blend is rather light bodied and somewhat complex on the nose and palate. There's a nice blend of vegetal and earth notes that swim in a tame dark fruit base. Some raspberry notes poke out. The body is moderately smooth and the finish is rather clean and short. I like this fairly well and, for a Virginia wine from a new-ish winemaker, this is quite good. Amy thinks it's really great.

Spicy, somewhat mushroomy aroma. Thin and a little green in the mouth. Decent, but lacking fruit.
