PnP over steak tacos. This took some time to open up and struggled to reveal very much until an hour or so had elapsed. Some spice on the nose and palate, some dark fruit came through but quite muted as I think this is just past its prime.

Age has done it some real favors. A little lean on pallet. But the fruit is still there along with a lil spice action. Notes of red fruit and leather. Real fun!

In the bouquet some red and dark berries and chocolate. Same on the palate, fresh acidity, some soy and tannin which is a bit green, but will probably not develop for the better. Ok wine now. My last bottle and that is ok.

Drank over 3 days and no formal notes taken. Day1 the wine was a pleasant surprise with red and dark berries, sweet spices, firm acidity and vanilla. Day 2 the wine disappointed because it seemed rather thin and boring. Day 3 the wine was more soft and developed a bit for the better compared to day 2. Overall ok, but not really special.

Initial pour of nice light leather color w/mineralogy nose. Fine legs. Flavor of graphite, cinder block. Initially went went well with meat & cheese tray for appetizers. By dinner, 1 Hour, wine had faded to significant acidic profile, far more acidic than I care for. Was disappointed how wine faded. Used balance of wine for base to Red Wine Barbecue sauce I make.

This was my last bottle of the 2010. Very good Rioja for the price, as stated before. I regret a bit I didn't buy more of the 2010 vintage. Then again they should be drunk now, maybe wait 1 or 2 years longer, but doubt that they will improve. On the bouquet: cassis, red fruit, there is a bit of sweet sour smell in the background that hints of dried cranberries. Oak. On the palette: same as what is revealed …

Soft and supple tannins, free flowing acidity - medium to long length. People harp on about the QPR on this one. Some people saying $15 from Costco? I paid bloody $45 AUD! Perhaps I drank a different style? None the less, for $45 the QPR is still solid. Plenty of ripe rounded fruits like cherries. It went beautifully with food, as you'd expect a Rioja would. I decanted it for an hour and it most certainly needed it. Went down …

At its peak. This wine has matured so nicely the last couple of years. Not sure how much longer it will last at this level, but don't hesitate to open up a bottle. Personally will finish this vintage by the next couple of years (2016/2017) and move gradually on to the next.

This wine has an incredible QPR! Everyone should have a wine in their cellar which can be labelled as casual drinking wine. They should be inexpensive enough not to make you think about uncorking a bottle if you feel like it. Yet they should present themselves with a good enough quality which draws you back to them each and every time. For me this wine is exactly that.

Bien bon!!

Looks like liquid seedless strawberry jam. That carries over into the nose of strawberry, earth, and cola. Light to medium bodied, raspberries, chocolate cherries, white pepper, soft tannins, and a sweet sappy finish. Much better on night 2.

From 75cl, v. good cork. Decanted 1 hour with no development. Sweetish, slightly flabby, gentle wine with no rough edges, like strawberrry jam (thanks sundiegojc TN 15.03.2014 —you nailed it). Super-low acidity. Good-quality, inoffensive, mother-in-law-pleasing Euro-red, bearing about the same resemblence to real Rioja (whether old- or new-style) as Mouton Cadet does to real Médoc, i.e. precious little. Cynical restauranteurs of the world, listen up: Here is a profit opportunity. The Wine Advocate gave this 92P, which I find completely …

This is a nice Rioja. Very nice bouquet even when first opened becoming more subtle with a little time to breath. Good feel on the mouth and a nice long finish. The finish improves with time open and time in the glass. I think an hour after uncorking would be about right. I opened ran it through the Venturi for the first glass and then right out of the bottle during dinner.

Popped and poured with pizza. Aroma is dark fruit, with plum coming out. Taste is pretty smooth with the fruit very much at the forefront. Has a bit of heat on the finish, but not too bad. Enjoyable in terms of easy drinking, but just a bit too dull.
