Deep saturated ruby colour, Swarms of black fruits on the nose, filled with plums, black cherry. Savoury spices, florals, smoke The palate is full-bodied and brooding. An abundance of juicy ripe fruits compressed into the glass. Excellent weight on the mid-palate. Fresh acids, and grippy tannins providing a solid backbone of structure. What a blockbuster of a wine. Rich, deep and polished. Something quite special, even more so in 7-10+ years under careful storage.

Incredibly pure again just like the Corbeaux but with a fraction more complexity. A significant step up and will only get better with time. This is a WOW wine and very good value. A great premier cru Burgundy.

Gang of 4 in Covid19 times; Pinot Noir versus Spätburgunder (@ RW) : Acidic bouquet. Special on the palate. A lot of acidity. Not pleasurable. Too old? No score.

Again an elegant rendition of Gevrey that nobody could guess. I thought this was a 13 because of the lightness without greenness, so was pleasantly surprised that it turned out to be another 11. Very pure rendition of a Gevrey, both delicate and meaty - for me the most balanced wine on the night.
