Newton Johnson, Block 6 Pinot Noir, Walker Bay

It’s a lovely, elegant, very restrained style that really came alive with food. Very pale coloured with a delicate fresh weight. Really fine tannins, there’s red berry fruit, red cherry and a little sour rhubarb and a touch of oak on the finish. Excellent.

Monthly tasting club LTC 2016-04; In every flight a wine of Newton Johnson (South Africa) (@ DJ) : Beautiful bouquet with ripe red berries, minerals, smoke, oak and rustic flavors. On the palate a juicy start with red berries, minerals, oak, smoke and toast and also figs. Good acidity and friendly tannin with a pleasant bite. There is complexity in this overall tempting wine. Already a pleasure and certainly for the next 2+ years.
