This was, at 43 years old, incidentally also my own age, surprisingly awake and pleasant. Mature fruit, leather, still quite tannic.

Picture this: you pour yourself a glass and behold its deep ruby glow. Already, you're intrigued. Take a whiff & your senses are greeted by an orchestra of dark berries, plum & black cherry, with violet, licorice & a hint of earthiness playing the supporting roles. It's like walking through a fruit orchard with a gentle breeze carrying whispers of spice & adventure... Now, the real magic happens on the palate - full-bodied, strutting its stuff with ripe blackberry, fig …

An old favourite revisited in a new vintage. Bright but intense purple, pretty much opaque. An attractive nose of cherry liqueur. On the palate, velvety smooth, very rich. Some tannin, but very fine-grained. A luscious billow of ripe fruit...irresistible. Good length. (Decanting or opening well in advance recommended, specially at this age.) Cork, 15% - I don't remember the alcohol being that high previously, and though the wine is impeccably balanced, at this strength I don't feel like drinking more …

With a strong, smoke, espresso note to start things off, the fruit is deep, fleshy, round and flashy. The wine is powerful, ripe and sweet, with a lot of flesh and flash. Give this modern styled, bodacious wine time for the oak to integrate and it will be a much better wine.

Oaky with a hint of espresso along with the fat cherries on the palate. The wine is round, sweet, forward and focused on its core of spicy, red berries. This decidedly modern styled wine is already fun to taste.

Probably a bit past its prime with fading fruit BUT I am enjoying it more. It has always a bit to harsh and peppery for me but it is mellowing nicely now to my taste.

Intense and in the same time subtle wine. Nice perfume where primary fruits are fading and tertiary is geting more dominant, fig, prune and some meaty/wet leaves tones. Still juicy and pleasant cedar tones with integrated tannines. Think this wine is slightly over the top and def time to pop those bastards if you still got them laying around. 07 Ch9dp is unfortunately not a long time keeper, at least most of them.

Earthy soil and dried herbs lead to black currant and bacon flavors. Very good balance of acidity/fruit, full bodied with a lingering finish of black cardamom.

Good classical CDP right in its drinking window. Still good amounts of dark fruits. This wine has always Ben a bit hot but is now tempering nicely. Long finish.

Nose with a dark berries, animal notes, some liquorice and dried herbs, and a hint of mint - somewhat developed but still quite fruity. Palate with dark cherries and other dark berries, medium+ concentration of fruit, fine acidity, a pronounced gravelly mineral note, well integrated medium(+) tannins, and a balanced aftertaste with dark berries and mineral. Drinks well now, will keep (and possibly develop) for several more years, 90 p. For someone who considers many Châteauneuf-du-Papes (including many highly rated …

Violet red with slow running legs. Complex nose of prunes, thyme and mint, coffee, tertiary spice and licorice. Complex and long on the palate too, a delicious stew of prunes and cloves, cedar chips, mint, rosemary, coffee beans, chocolate. Somehow it all works and lingers on the palate delectably. Another excellent 2007 CdP.

Deep ruby, so dark it is opaque. Spice, plum, dried fruit aromas. Some cedar, vanilla and more fruit flavours. Rather sharp still and feels like it needs a bit more time in the cellar. Funny but the 2007 CDP Beaucastle I had last fall was more approachable than this. Mellowed a bit over the next 3-4 days in the fridge (under argon).

2007 fulfills itself. This is a phenomenal Châteauneuf du Pape. With a nose that possesses a myriad of fruit, flower, pepper spice, garrigue, and maybe even tones you only find in port, it delivers on the hype of 2007. You may not be able to buy this anymore, but if you have one hiding out, it may be ready for consumption.

Nez épicé, notes sanguines. En bouche le,vin se caractérise par beaucoup de puissance au détriment de la finesse. Meilleur le troisième jour après l'ouverture. Attendre ou bien carafer.

Bottle decanted for 2 hours, initially quite simple, yet pleasant, red fruits and typical GSM flavors. After 2 hours, gets very complex aromatically, smoke, meat, herbs, not much floral but still great fun to enjoy it. Likely can go another 5 years easily.
