Italian odds and sods (N&J's place, Canberra) : From Coravin. Dusty spice, muted plums, a little wet clay. Juicy, fleshy, savoury plums backed by drying and slightly coarse tannic grip. Feels a little tired. Non intrusive alcoholic warmth on the finish.

Dark fruit, raspberry, frutti di boschi, tart and enough chew to it to balance, consistently delicious Dolcetto.

Decanted. 1h after decant. Shy aromas of dark cherries, barely ripe plums, herbs, and a bit of earth. Palate w unripe plums, barely ripe black cherries, a bit of green stems, earth Nice acids and moderate tannins ina med. body. Nice moderate finish. Good depth. Nice amount of structure. Not the most complex but deliciouss and still w seriousness. . Lacks some depth of flavor. But I suspect that this may improve and last at least a decade. Good but …

I bought a case of this vintage last year with the intention of cellaring it for a year, having had experience with this wine's relative "seriousness." Having it today with a lamb-broth French onion soup and it hits the mark. Noticeably softer than it was last year and in the right spot for my favorite summer red wine. Dolcetto is not intended for meditation, but rather easy pleasure and this is a simple delight. Probably would be good next year …

Lovely wine. Aromatics of leather/earth, some chocolate, and a hint of red fruits. Medium acidity (maybe med+ relative to other dolcettos), medium+ tannins, with bold flavor. It had a texture Max called "comfortable," and the finish had a good sort of bitterness and was lengthy. Not hugely complex, but a great example of a dolcetto, which we'll go back to in the future. We decanted for 30 minutes. Oh, and it was a smash paired with fontina -- one of …

Slight sticky black fruits on the nose with sour cherry and a touch of damp earth. Intensely dry taste, quite austere. Leafiness gives way to blackberry and other dark fruits. A lingering, dry, spicy finish - maybe even a touch spirity. I wonder if this needed a bit more time.

Deep ruby with a sort of deep translucence. Deep blackberry nose, with black pepper and a faint hint of mushrooms. Quite astringent berries. Medium-bodied but with dark tannins. Dried fruit. Might this develop over time?

A fabulously vibrant and delicious wine. Purple flowers and purple fruits abound on the nose and in the mouth. It has so much flesh and real underlying cherry stone minerality. It has good depth and a highly perfumed, persistent finish.

Opened to breathe for 1-2h, sampled throughout. Purplish in the glass, with a nose of faint oak, vanilla. On the palate bright plums raspberries more red than black fruit, acid finish. Tart after opening, 2h later it has much improved. Having tried the ‘16, ‘17, and ‘18, I much prefer the ‘16 vintage which had ample black fruit but is now over the hill. This ‘18 is a decent showing if you let it breathe. 88/89
