This bottle was great. Lots of fruit, but decently dry and savory for balance. Nice structure and oakthat is additive. Only a bit of complexity missing.

Upon open, this bottle was abit oaky. maybe 86. With air, this got better, much better. Still some oak, but now this wine is a little more elegant, but still has nice fruit that is a bit more understated, with still some french oak and slight minerality. 86 upon open, 88+ with air.

88-89. Not the most complex wine, but balanced and in proportion. Nice acidity and tannin structure, nice fruit, but dry and balanced by some oak and earth with a slight mineral/chalk that i really like. Night 2: fruitier and not as good. 87.

87-88. Nice wine. Better than most malbecs with better balance and a bit of complexity. Some oak, nice fruit, nice balance.

Lots of french oak, but still drinking very well. While the oak is really there, it also brings out a lot of chalky minerality to the dark malbec fruit. This is quite balanced and nice with some savory qualities if you can deal with oak.

87-88. Drinking very well. Deep dark red to black fruit, fairly dry - black raspberry. A fair amount of chalky, minerally tannins balance out the fruit and really make this better than most malbecs. I could use a bit more acidity to make it a bit juicier and its not overly complex, but still quite a good malbec with a lush texture but still not a fruit bomb. Not much upside.

This bottle was still good, in fact better than the last few. Nice fruit, solid balance and a little bit of tannins and earthiness. 87-88. Better than most malbecs.

89-90. This bottle is really singing. Lots of dark fruit, creamy oak and underlying minerality. Not overly complex, but has some depth and nice balance. Oak will probably further integrate with time. Drinking very well this bottle.Better than some others with bottle variation. I'll be generous. Still drinking well Night 2: 89, not as much minerality.

Some bottle variation clearly. This wasn't up to par with the really great bottle from a few weeks ago. Nice wine with some oak and savory notes, but not the same juicy adicity and underlying minerality showing. Didn't get better night 2 or 3, but hung in there. Significant bottle variation clearly.

Cork slightly damaged and tasted slightly off/oxidized. Hopefully this was corked and not severe bottle variation since some bottles have been very good.

88+. Tight and unforgiving upon open. Fruit struggling to peek out from behind the intriguing oak(not overdone for new french), and chalky minerally tannins that add comlexity and balance. Quite structured and balanced. Nice acidity, nothing flabby here. Better with air. We'll see if a bit more fruit peeks out Day 2. Potential to be very good. Poor man's Monteviejo?
