Really good!! Decanted for a couple hours and drank over about 4. Was in a really good spot with lots of life left.

Stylistically, this matches the reputation of an "old school" Napa wine. Mainly currant and plum fruit, with a finish that has a touch of dusty dryness that is nonetheless well integrated.

Big disappointment. Pruny and one-dimensional. Bordering on flawed.

Woodward Road Trip!; 8/16/2025-8/23/2025 (Start in Eugene, 8/16-17 and end in Sunriver 8/21-23) : Decanted off moderate sediment, this bottle was a mouthful of tannin and oak on day 1. Day 2 there was some calming of the tannins, but no nose, no fruit = light TCA and down the drain...

This vintage of BV G. de Latour is really loaded, made for aging, more so than most other recent vintages. It's way too early to drink! Give yourself a favor, keep it for at least 5 more years to smooth the edges and enjoy what promises to be absolutely beautiful wine.

Decanted 2 hours to accompany wagyu beef burgers. Full body wine that lacked the depth that I and anticipated. Rather linear lacked evolution. Key feature was the high alcohol (15.2%!) that I don’t feel did the wine any favors. Have a few more and def interested in trying again in a years time when I hope to see some more development.

Deep dark garnet. Lots of legs. Strong fruit and body. Tannins are strong and finish long. Tasted at winery. Wait a few years. 12/2016. First bottle 7/2021. Luscious fruit. Oak still maturing. Big and strong, if not yet wonderful. Will get better.

Nose of crushed mulberry, currents, blueberries, raspberry, and spicy black pepper. Palate of luscious red berries, crushed blueberries combined with current and substantial tannins that go on and on.Moist earth with rosemary and thyme herbs give a well balanced finish Starts on mid palate that evolves…decanted for 1.5 hours, not bad for 11 year old wine…

25th Annual Lyon 10 Year Retrospective (Lyon Down Inn) : My scribbles in this blind tasting read just like a previous bottle unblinded: 2/18/2017 rated 94 points: PHMG WAG Blind Pairs: Quality vs. Price (The Lyon's Downed Tree House): This is a dark brooding wine with black fruit, espresso, stone, and oak notes. The tannins are substantial without being coarse. 94+ on day 2. Drink 2018-2030. (4019 views) I'm gonna roll with that!

A medium bodied cab, subdued oak, some mint, evergreen but muted. Nice fruit.

Retail $145. A unique vintage as the wine was produced under drought conditions. Early growing season since dry soils warm up faster, leading to the earliest harvest Jeffrey had ever seen. Viscous and rich dark berry in the glass. Tannic but not huge. Rich. Outstanding. 94 Points. www.thedrunkencyclist.com

Did two hour decant. Nose is crushed blueberries and ripened blackberries. Strong summer herbs of tyme, rosemary and moist earth. Soft harmonious nose of berries,,cedar cigar box, and herbs. Palate starts with strong tannins, intense acid that fruit softens after 20 seconds the skill of wine maker becomes evident after a minute in mouth. The harmony of fruit integration goes on for a minute, Enhanced with bbq beef.

Multiple tastings with consistent notes. Strong aromatics, tannins are still pretty firm. Could easily use more cellar time.

Very different from the BV Private Reserves I have consumed for 40+ years from the '70s and 80s, much more extracted Cali cab style with big in your face dark fruits, moderate tannins, long finish, I wonder if will age as well as the older style BVs.

This is finally starting to open up, though could use more age. Leaning towards the aromatic/tannic side, not a fruit bomb by any means.

Enjoyed for Christmas dinner of beef tenderloin and grilled shrimp along with a 2014 Bard. Decanted for about an hour this still needed 1-2 hour more to hit it's stride. Tobacco and cedar aromas. Sweet dark fruits, good texture, smooth tannins. Glad I've been holding off on these they are starting to come into their own. Excellent, classic Napa Cab.

Drank September 3, 2021 Beautiful aromas of currant, blackberries, plum, cherries. Heavy feel. Medium/light acid. Strong tannin for an 8 yr old wine (but still smooth. You feel their effect later, esp. on the finish.). Earth, leather, barnyard (light), currant, dark cherry flavors. Deep. Long finish of tangy fruit, pepper, spice. Commands attention but enjoyable.

PHMG WAG: Two Shots and a Vertical Tasting (Lyon Quarantine Site) : This is the 3rd time we've had this wine in this group and it's nice to see the evolution. The score is the same but it's opening up! Decanted just under 3 hours. A bit hot, but not as much as expected considering >15% alcohol. Blackberry, tannins in the right place. A bit austere. Nice wine - just wish the alcohol was in check.

Impressive showing. Gave this a couple hours of air and it steadily improved. Dark berry, vanilla, oak and cherry with a medium to long finish. Smooth with slight bite on the tannins. Old-world style with room to improve slightly.

Typical BV style. Med+ body, dark ruby color, light tannins expose on the finish. Still dark fruit. It is ready now. I can still taste it.

This doesn't taste much like a big Cab, possibly because of the addition of the Syrah. However, the addition of the Syrah doesn't particularly smooth things out and the tannins up front that through the finish. However, let it breathe for an hour or so and it'll smooth out and you'll taste less of the tannins. Plenty of peppery spice; the predominant fruit is dark cherry. As another poster wrote, not super flavorful.

Nose has some spice. Smooth. A little dry. Balanced. Medium length finish that has significant tannins. Hints of dark cherry. Maybe dried fig. Not super flavorful but more interesting than the straight cab.
