Christian Patat Pecorino Terre di Chieti IGT

Great acid bite, very dry and excellent food wine.

Delicious! My first taste of a pecorino and I liked it. Smells fresh: grassy and herbaceous; orange rind; slightly nutty - peanut; peach and a little candied pineapple in the background, but there's also a little yeasty aroma of fresh glazed sultana buns. Palate is surprisingly soft and rich with a long, slightly bitter finish. Soft medium acid and at just 12.5% it actually went really well with curry. Definitely a repeater.

A little bland

My only problem with this Pecorino is that I only got one bottle! I am red wine lover so this amazed me to no end. I usually enjoy a glass of red wine in the evening, occasionally two but I drank the entire bottle while fixing dinner, with dinner and now I am sipping and writing. A naked wines offering. Sealed with cork. Will the screw cap revolution ever reach Italy? This was a bit dull at first but opened up into a very lively, fresh and refreshing white wine. Fruit flavours tending towards the fruit salad end of the spectrum but balanced but a vibrant line of acidity. In the "summer" weather of London this drinks nicely.
