No detailed notes taken. My first encounter with Clos du Château, and it was a delight. The signature Rousseau weightlessness was there in full, along with pure red fruit touched by gentle herbs and spice. It may not be a wine of great depth or complexity, but its balance and effortless charm make it irresistibly drinkable. A graceful, whispering Burg.

In a pretty good spot. Beautiful red fruits and a very modern / polished profile. Seems that some younger vintages are a wall of oak, but this has evolved nicely. Lifted and light on its feet. A few participants at lunch found this to be a little shy, but for me the wine was in a good spot.

A Gevrey Chambertin, all blind tasting 2005-2022- Correctly guessed 2017 for its openess and relaxed profile, guessed Rousseau as the signature polished elevage is in evidence, a great showing with great balance and zen like harmony, will continue to age well in the next 10 years.

Excellent but not outstanding and needs more time. Plenty of controversy about this wine for good reasons. It is a most feminine Gevrey in my tasting experience, not typical. So if you frame of reference is in Gevrey then the world is not so good. Vibrant with red fruits. Oak still has not really integrated here, but the fruit is elegant and in tact. A very enjoyable modern wine; perhaps lacking slightly in the Rousseau, Gevery character.

PnP. Black and red fruits, gentle spice. The medium weighted palate is balanced and pure. Finish is just a tad short.

Baked, dark, sturdy, peppery, lacking fruit. Vintage plus the terroir, which was still in early cultivation when the wine was made. No feminine fruit or silkiness, just boring. Day three, more transparency but tannin still dry and wine acid-driven. Certainly the most disappointing bottle of Rousseau to date. 89-90

This did not show up well. Attack was astringent and short finish. Even at primary prices not worth buying... I really don't get the secondary prices that I see on this...

Immediately open on pnp, a beautiful cherry colour in the glass and on the nose red cherries with a defty whaft of toasted oak but seamless and very attractively integrated. Drinking superemly elegant, very good fruit intensity and minerality. I have heard that Rousseau isn't that keen on the vineyard material vis a vis his "standard" Gevrey village. Nette amélioration depuis la dernière bouteille bue sur le millésime 2014. On voit que l’équipe du domaine a travaillé fort sur sur les vignes de ce domaine en métayage, racheté par des intérêts hors Hexagone depuis le décès de la Grande Dame du Château. Pas typique du domaine car la robe est plus foncée, mais ça se rapproche...

Some reduction on the nose. Cool red fruit with some floral notes and spice. Silky. Lighter in body than the regular Rousseau Gevrey. Young and will age well medium term but nice now

Après un Joseph Roty au profil masculin et animal hier soir j'avais le goût d'un vin fin au profil fruité, croquant, floral et les commentaires sur ce vin pointaient favorablement en ce sens. Superbe Gevrey en finesse, bouquet floral et aérien de fruits purs et croquants, c'est vibrant rempli d'énergie et de minéralité, l'équilibre est impeccable. C'est gourmand à tous les niveaux je ne vois pas pourquoi on devrait l'attendre!

All pure vibrant Pinot fruit, spice and gentle intensity. The charm is it’s seamless, silky texture. Elevates and grows in the glass too.

Medium ruby, starting turning garnet around rim. Pronounced nose of strawberry, cherry, lavender, floral. Medium+ acidity, medium body, light tannins. Flavours of red fruit, tart cherry, some flint minerality and savoury notes. Very well balanced, long length, moderate intensity and high complexity. Very good to excellent.

Young, yes, but intoxicating nose of red berries, flowers, a hint of cinnamon. Subtle and round on the palate, there is no hard edges here. Caressing, understated, elegant. Spicy, good length, delicious. Easy drinking juice right now, but also way too expensive unfortunately. It is just grape juice, after all.
