Deep purple. A strong nose right upon opening. Decanted for about an hour. Full body, heavy tannins, medium+ acidity. A real exemplar. Oak, leather, and tobacco, with a well rounded finish. Pairs beautifully with a good strip steak.

Very nice wine. Big mouthful of dark fruit but not over extracted. Some nice oak to add backbone. Lots of sediment as well. Nothing over the top just a nice wine. Doesn't need food but can be drank with a good steak.

What a bad showing for this wine tonight. Sour cherry, grapey, abrubt finish and out of balance. Extremely acidic for a Napa cab and I don't think this bottle was flawed. Definitely would not purchase again.

Drank w/Monica and BK in Castle Rock. Not as stellar as Lee thought it was. A few more years in the bottle should improve it.

April Wine Tasting (Cardinal Liquors, Crystal Lake, IL (NW Suburbs-Chicago)) : Excellent, balanced 2001 Cab. Nice deep color and complex, deep red fruit flavors. Very supple, soft style with balanced small grained tannins. 45+ second finish suggests ability to last for another 7 to 10 years.

($60) Napa-Noma Trip: Sudued nose compared to the Longfellow. Earth. Sweet attack with some late Anise. A bit more austere, but nice.
