Opened 2 bottles and both had damaged corks, but were surprisingly drinkable. Score may be higher if not for this issue. A mature silky wine with plum, dark fruit and a hint of tobacco. Excellent balance.

This was still drinking extremely well, not even close to the end, but drinking perfectly now for sure - Very dark, full bodied with a nose of plum, blackfruit and vanilla toast, very viscous, with a touch of amber on the rim, silky smooth with a bit of heat on the palate with terrific length, beautiful, needs big red meat to tame this beast, but a really enjoyable wine. As I said, beautiful now, can't see it getting better as …

Beginning to see brown tinges in the color. Soft tannins, notes of tobacco and prunes. Very well balanced with smooth long finish. Very nice wine.

The bottle ended up with a cork leak that had closed itself. It would not have lasted much longer. It was surprisingly drinkable, but not noteworthy.

Drinking great now but can age more. Some tertiary just developing. Cedar, nice fruit but not too fruit forward. Nori and sous bois. Nice bottle that will improve.

By the glass at a restaurant. Lovely nose with dark fruit, vanilla, tobacco, and a pronounced amber that comes out time in the glass. Medium body, medium tannins with still a hint of grip, and medium to medium-low acid. Dark fruit on the palate with a cedar stripe that lingers through the finish. The nose was more interesting than the palate, but perfectly enjoyable.

Drinking beautifully right now. This was by far the wotn. Still big but well integrated. Secondary flavors coming through. Amazing what a decade will do for a good Napa Cab… really in its sweet spot.

Very fruity — and full mouth. Who said 2020 was optimal… this bottle from one of our favorite vintners drank tremendously today!

Remarkably youthful for a 12 year old wine, and in a beautiful stage. Wonderful aromatics of dark fruit, coffee, and leather. Integrated tannins, muted fruit and great balance that exhibited both maturity and extended longevity for the future. Drank over burgers with Katie and Tim, with Tim commenting that this is quite possibly the best cab he can remember having in a long long time. Simply, a stunner that we did not anticipate.

Continues to hit on all cylinders. Dark cherry, licorice, plum and leather notes. Have aged this beauty for ~7 years in the wine cellar, and it was well worth the wait. This is at it's prime and quite lovely.

Black cherry, hints of licorice, leather, plums, earth all combined with medium acidity and medium tannins for elegant structure.

Wasn't impressed. Micro sediment so decanted. Very pretty aromatics upon opening, led to a lot of hope, but was just okay. Wasn't bad, just didn't make me want to have another glass.

WX+ 'X9 Blind Cabernet Sauvignon Meetup (My House - Hanover Park, IL) : Classic understated qualities. Very nice but lacking the layers of the other wines as a whole. Nice dark red fruit and spice. Some oak present but again lots of restraint and austerity.

Incredible that this wine has hardly tamed down since last sampled 4 years ago. As before, deep purple color, with cassis and blackberry flavors. Initial oak notes meld more quickly with aeration. According to the Grgich Hills website, their cabs reach their peak in 10 years and can be drunk for 20-30 years. And that is exactly what is going on with this wine! Well worth waiting another few years to open the next bottle, but opening now and aerating …

Bottle age has improved this wine subtly and made it much more interesting. Notes of blackberry, forest floor, coffee, and floral sweetness. Tannins are fine and dusty. I sat and smelled this wine as it warmed in the glass for about 20 minutes before taking a sip. It's unusual behavior for me, so I know I was interested in the nose and evolution as it warmed from cellar temp. When I've had Grgich cabs on release, they're drinkable but one-dimensional, …

Much better than the bottle I had in October. Doesn't even seem like the same wine. This is more like how a 2009 should taste. Alcohol has integrated fully and tannins subsided and soft. Still and older style of Napa Cab it it's fairly one dimensional. Nice Cab flavors with some layering of flavors but not really exciting or complicated. For a Sunday night BBQ with Char Siu cross cut ribs its just fine. Decent but not great.

Easy every-day drinking wine. Medium to light bodied for a Cabernet Sauvignon, but plenty of red fruit to quench the palette.
