No idea how I came by this, but kinda tasty. Most of the overt varietal characteristics have dissipated, leaving behind a lot of dried red fruit and some damp earth and forest floor. So long as you enjoy tertiary red wine, there’s really no great rush.

This is the first time I've tried aged Zinfandel. Definite acidity that paired well with aged cheddar but didn't work at all with pasta with tomato sauce. Better with food than on its own. Very different than the fruitiness of young Zin but with interesting lingering spices and earth and just a hint of grapefruit. A good experiment for $15.

Tasted from a bottle w/ seepage and moldy saturated cork. High-shoulder fill. Wine wasn't completely dead but merely "half dead." Hints of fruit, but mostly overshadowed by typical over-the-hill notes of raisin, cabbage, and port. Other bottles are intact fills into the neck.

Client Lunch Tasting. Medium body, fruity, well balanced, can age 2 years, tannic aftertaste. My #1 of 3.
