Opened at Whale. Slow-oxed before being served blind. One of my favourites of the evening, and I originally thought that this was potentially a Gevrey or NSG given the darker fruit profile. Lovely concentration and balance here and really enjoyed this one, and opened up even more as it breathed in the bottle and our glasses. According to one of the group, Leroy's Pommard is a sweet spot and always a consistent performer, which I am inclined to agree with …

00654/3220. Third time drinking this wine, finally for a celebratory occasion. Wet cork that unfortunately did not come out in one piece, filtered and decanted. On the sweet side, salty, woody and earthy—almost dirty—on the front with light rose floral lychee aromatics in the background, characteristics of a ripe vintage with still ample high toned acidity. My last bottle but I don’t regret it, as I do not think it ought to be drunk any later. Clean and resolved even …

00650/3220. Lychee, rose, opulent sweet Leroy aromatics turning even more precise and penetrating. Some terroir earthiness and greeness in the finish. It is not nor should it be expected as grand cru; it is however extremely hedonistic. Singing at peak like the last bottle, and hopefully so will the next! 93-94

Zachy's La Paulee 2020; 3/5/2020-3/6/2020 (Le Bernardin Prive) : 1269/3220. Acid very characteristic to vintage, just good. 93

Slightly hazy to cloudy. Clearly unfiltered. Floral nose. Red fruits. Burnt matches like crazy, minerals and crushed stones. Higg acidity. Medium tannins. Light body and light intensity. Blackcurrants on the palate. Balanced and light. Delicate. Became more red fruits wirh air. Its structure was evident. Balanced. Layered to complex. Without doubt the best village wine I have tried. Served blind, we thought grand cru. Shared by ST

Christie's Wine Dinner: A Journey Through the Vinkällare of Staffan Hansson (RPM Steak - Chicago IL) : Bottle purchased shortly after release. Lots of spice with black and red cherry aromas and flavors. Dark and concentration with lots of wonderfully balanced structure. Served alongside the 2007. If served blind, I'd have thought this younger! Still upside from here?

Sudato, nebuloso e autunnale. Terra e tabacco dolce da pipa. Ricorda un grande Brunello affinato in barrique. Perfettamente maturo.

Just a little bit of barnyard on the nose of this orangish red Pinot. Along with some tobacco and confectioner sugar. definitely dark fruited, this is coming into old age, with some sharp edges showing, but lovely nonetheless. drink up.

From the nose it explode with pinot character c/o red fruits and a bit of black fruit. Great mouth feel with a long finish. Tannins integrated and decent acidity. This was better than most pinots I've had recently (at any level).

Lovely classic Pommard nose right out of the gate, palate gained weight with air. I could drink this every night, if for nothing other than the nose. A sleeper.

a very barnyard nose, and tastes like a CDP to me, with tart acidity. too young? i guess, but once again i'm baffled by all the fuss. maybe i have to sip these and acquire a taste for them like scotch. i'll tell ya, the more classic ones i have, the more i'm favoring white wines.

G7 (Alex) : Cherries and earth. A tuch of barnyard adds some complexity. Smooth finish. A well balanced wine. I've always been a fan of this producer. 13% alcohol.

Second bottle in 3 weeks and I think this was even better than last time. Very primary, but showing some lovely red fruit, spices all in a nicely grippy and sappy package. The mid-palate is just a bit stern, but might gain some weight going forward. Moderate finish with some lingering sweetness and bit of rusticity. Not overly complex, but really delicious now and the palate presense alone is well above the village level.
