Peachy Canyon Zinfandel Westside

Bright zinberry aromatics carry through the palate, but are joined there by a beef broth savoriness that adds a nice dimension and makes it a terrific pairing with smoked baby back ribs.

Sweet plummy fruit and a little spice, the sweetness combines with slightly gritty and bitter tannin to create a nice balance and texture. Not all that complex, but it is hard to stop drinking.

Really balanced throughout. Some really interesting flavors early but they quickly dissipated; pop and pour, this doesn't need any breathing. Nice medium-length finish and a tart midpalate that wasn't overpowering. Good solid mouthfeel. I wanted to give it an 89 but could justify it with it degrading so quickly.

We had the '03 at a tasting, which was quite nice, then bought this '02, which wasn't as good. Typical Zin character, not as aggressive as Rosenblum or Ridge, but nothing that distinctive about this one.
