AWESOME, ROUND, DRY, TOBACCO, LEATHER, GREAT! Enjoyed with fresh BLT's using home grown heirloom tomatoes grown from seed. Couldn't be better!

This was opened later in the evening, and I was a little wined out, but this didn’t resonate with me. It was a little hard, and simple. I guess you could chalk it up to being young, but I am not convinced.

Decanted. At a good place now...more resolved than previous tasting (decanting helped)...

shared with pat at selkirk manor. no formal notes. impression similar to when tasted last on 3/3/2017. typical prune notes as is characteristic for barolo. the wine has improved a bit with age. will wait awhile before trying the next one.

Nice... Complex Nebiollo nose of roses, slight tar packaged elegantly. Rather tight , and just as I think it might never fully resolve, about 2 hours after opening and pouring intermittently, the last few sips (never could relate to those of you who drink a bottle over 3 nights....), it shows that there might still be some minor relief to our teeth enaml with more time in the bottle. I foresee no great improvement in overall flavor set though. Nice …

shared with pat at selkirk manor to celebrate the end of the work week. had to see what was going on with this wine since the last note posted on CT was from 2015. proved to be a very enjoyable entry level barolo. predominant prune flavor which is characteristic of the area. seems to have come along in its development since last tasted by others. only needed about 30 minutes of air to start showing what it has to offer. …

Still very tight when opened. Decanted 8 hours ahead and starting to open up nicely. Age longer

Some bricking around edges, cork looked great. On opening, and for an hour or so afterwards, this was showing almost nothing -- little nose, no tannins, and no taste worth describing. I almost tossed it. On second night, this was really quite nice. Showed a nice barolo flavor profile, with good acidity. My advice: decant or wait longer on this!

Rustic barolo with solid typicity; this is what a good homemade barolo tastes like. 50/5/12/14/7

Decanted a couple hours and it really opened up with soft flavors. Very good and better than previous bottles

I guess I just don't understand Barolo wines: powerful, slightly floral, somewhat sour nose but can't identify specific aromas. Strong tannins of tart, under-ripe fruit, very tight. This is not a wine to be consumed by itself.

Agree very much with description of rrschrumjr below. Not nearly as full-bodied or fresh as it should be.

Aromas and flavors of black tar, licorice, dried cherry, and dry dirt. Very dry on the palate but there is a burst of dark cherry at the end which livens this up. Very old world in style. I think the tannins will continue to only make this drier as the fruit fades. A very good food wine with rich meat dishes or heavy pasta. Drinking very well right now, may be peaking.

Excellent bottle of wine. This time showing some sangiovese-like notes of leather and earth. Perhaps blind I would have guessed a brunello, but the tarry finish and floral aromatics hinted at its true origins. The bottle was far superior to the last. Deeper/richer, evolved, modern, but not w/o losing its sense of place. Beautiful. Drink now and over the next three years. In a great place right now. 89

Garnet in color, bordering on brown. Initially, there's some power on the nose, almost astringent qualities, but I can't put my finger on the aroma. Initially, the taste feels under-ripe, without much fruit. Tart. It's a little bit flat and flabby, without the desired acidity. As the wine opens up, some spice and tannins become pronounced. After some time in the decanter and in the glass, some notes of port and candied fruits on the nose. Chewier tannins, some chocolate, …

This time, decanted for a couple hours and it opened up nicely. Recommend doing so in future.

The WS rating hits this pretty well. To echo the other comments, yes, this is a good food wine but not (yet?) a classic barolo. Very nice Wednesday wine though

See through. Almost rose in color. Delicate all around. Perfume like nose of white rose and berries. Blueberries on the palate. The finish kind of wiffs away without too much memory. All about the nose and mid-palate. Not much life remaining on second night.

Very solid at a very nice price. $19 wine chateaux. Not the most complex Barolo, agreed. However, full of flavor. Nose is full and ripe. Could pass as an Amarone or a fortified wine on the nose. Early on a good amount of earth and mushroom taste. Later on dark cherries and a bit of smoke. At its best it is like eating a ripe plum of the dirt and getting a bite of mushroom on the side. Long finish …

Simple barolo -- nice for a weeknight wine. Demands pasta or pizza, as it wouldn't be tasty enough on its on. Nice color (brick ruby). Plums and some pomegranate, but not much nuance. No lively or ripe fruits, perhaps a bit of dried fruit. Smelled a bit as if it were a fortified wine.

Nice brick red. Light plummy, pomegranate nose with some floral aromatics. Tight and hard on the palate with bittersweet, tarry tannins concealing any nuance and fruit from the attack through the finish. Drinking like an 84 point wine; however, because this wasn't properly decanted (not to mention possible bottle shock), this rating may turn out to be conservative.

Far simpler (and lighter) than you'd expect from a 2004 Barolo, but perfectly drinkable at the moment (10/2010). A bargain among its counterparts that cost twice the price.

Ruby red and perfumy rose, potpourri, iron. Unmistakeably Nebbiolo but lacking depth and complexity. Works for $20, I guess.
