Bottle was stored properly in 55 degree cellar for a few years. Sadly, wine leaked from cork during the storage process and wine had mild carbonation.

Seemingly fading a bit for me - didn't get a lot of the zin and in fact, started to be a bit more like cough syrup as the bottle progressed. I haven't had one of these in a while but don't remember this as the experience.

Drank a magnum. A rich wine with lots of fruit and good mouthfeel. Medium-light tannins. Great QPR.

Always a crowd favorite. Luscious mouth feel. Fruit forward but with mild tannins and low acid. Ready to drink now but curious how it will age in the bottle.

A nose of vanilla or maybe coconut. Smooth and elegant on the pallet. Pairs well with pasta and meatballs. Scouts honor never disappoints. This vintage is No exception despite the problems experienced in the region.

Dense purple-black color in the glass. Dark fruit aromas with blackberries, black cherries, and earthy mushroom notes. Blackberries, cherries and some cinnamon spice on the palate. Tannins are underdeveloped, still, so balance leans toward alcohol elements. Overall, a bit disappointing when compared to prior vintages, but may benefit from more time in bottle.

This wine is showing very different than the 2019. This is a much more fruit forward wine and a lot less smokiness on the finish. Perfect acidity and tannins. Drinking well right out of the bottle. Perfect mid-week wine when you are looking for something different than a straight up cab. Quite nice and enjoyable blend.

Drinking really well right now. Nice fruit with a solid structure that allowed for pairing with dinner.

This wine really surprised me. Given we are drinking 2+ years outside of the drinking window, we didn't expect much. Popped and poured. Great deep colors, expressive nose and decent finish. Red fruits dominate and the wine could benefit from a bit more structure. I'd stretch the drinking window to 2014.

Very heavy and still quite tannic, reminded me of a Malbec. Wish I had waited a few more years to open this one, though I didn't think Zins were known for their aging potential and didn't want it to be past its prime. I would recommend decanting. It mellowed after 1/2 hour or so.

- Garnet color with medium forming legs and aromas of raisin, licorice anise and vanilla and has flavours of black pepper and raisin.

Drank it out of styrofoam, so I'm not going to give this a numerical rating. It was soft, spicy and rich, with lots of red fruit and a long finish.

Pepper and fruit on the nose, well balanced spice, fruit, and medium body in this Zin/Petite Sirah//dash of Charbono blend, with a medium long finish. Smooth from first pour at this point, glad to have held onto one bottle, tannins much silkier now, very well structured. Excellent pairing with Penne all'Arrabbiata.

good dark fruit, anise; interesting sl meaty/organic notes in background; pepper notes; some heat on the finish; a bit heavy/flabby on day 2; distinctive and would repurchase

Dinner with friends (Jeffs - Wilmington, Delaware) : Soft cherry/vanilla nose. smells good. higher acidity than some of the other wines. More noticeable alcohol. Cherry and vanilla in the mouth as well. A blend of Zin, PS and Charbono.

has a very pronounced black pepper streak accompanied by dark cherry and licorice. a nice smooth medium bodied wine with limited nose. Still ahs some tannins which could mellow over the next 24 months. Good QPR but more of a food wine that stand alone.

SMELL: Heavy doses of licorice initially and then more of a cardboard/fiber like type of smell. Hard to describe, but not unappealing. TASTE: Hints of Grand Mariner other similar cordial. Loads of sour cherries as well. A nice Zinfadel blend.

Good spice, but light-medium bodied. Definitely requires food to make the best of it.

spice and pepper at first, dissipating to reveal jammy fruits. the wine has dramatically improved from when i first tasted it back in march. the strong acidity that was present then has given way to a very mellow taste that lets the pepper and fruit shine through

tasted at STAVE Napa. Slightly peppery note without the boldness of a full-zin. Some jammy fruit on the nose as well, and it found its way into the mid palate and finish. Acidity is slightly off, and the wine runs a tad hot. A little mellowing could make it a strong choice.

drinking over the course of a few days- smooth, jammy notes, little bit of spice, but a little too acidic on day 1. this fell off after leaving the bottle vacuumed for a day.

You can tell the difference between Lodi valley and Napa Valley. This is ot big fruit forward that lingers. This is refined. comparable to Edizone Penino or Robert Biale (but this is no Black Chicken). Nice blend

Zinfandel is one of those grapes that seems indigenous to California. Though it is not technically a native grape this type seems to excel in the warmer Napa valley climate. Venge shows off this fact by presenting a prodominately Zinfandel wine that shows loads of jammy fruit with a fantasticly ripe dark fruit mid-palate (ripeness coming more from the petit sirah and charbono blending). The tannin structure is still young and this wine could benefit from some aging but I …

ZAP tasting, barrel sample, taste blend, very oaky, vanilla, dark fruit, and slightly disjointed, should be the usual charming wine in 3 years.

ZAP tasting, my favorite exotic zinfandel, this blend with charbono and petite sirah add depth, inkiness, mouth filling taste, and color to the mix, medium body and medium finish. Thank you Nils, from one Eagle Scout to another Eagle Scout.

the blend is again true to type for the Scouts. At 68% it is primarily Zin with the balance divided equially; 16% Petite Sirah and 16% Charbonno. We are so happy to have the Petit and Charbonno variets that fight so hard in making this eclectic blend. With approximately 8 different vineyard and variettal components there is such a variety of creativity that can result.
