It is a lovely semillon to go with with Japanese food. Yellow-green, it has terrific aromas of green apple, lime, and a hint of lemongrass. It is very mouth-filling, with almost a creaminess to the wine. Notes of apple, grapefruit, honey and toastiness are beginning to emerge. Fine acidity and a long finish. Drink now to 12+ years.

Screwcap, 11% alc. Pale-medium yellow-gold. Pungent aromas of lanolin, lemon, sunlight soap, pencil shavings, a sweet hay/grass top note with a honey and lime lift. Powerful acidity; the wine appears almost spritzy in the mouth. Plenty of flavour on the palate; fresher than the nose with lemon the dominant flavour. Long, fresh finish. Despite the firm acidity and light body, the wine floods the palate assertively and builds richness.

Colour: Pale gold with silver lining. Nose: Lanolin, lemon curd, lime, toast and honey. Palette: Lemon curd, lime, honey, nectarine, toast. Lovely rich long finish with enough of an acid spine to keep things interesting for the future. Years ahead of it but drinking really well now - really nice drop.

A bright gleaming yellow colour leads to a nose of lanolin, lemon and hallmark emerging honey. A slight spritz remains but blows off with time in the glass. The palate is quite creamy and fuller displaying the warmer vintage of 2014.The typical Belford honey notes of the Elliott era Belfords is well to the fore. The wine is well within its drinking window but will certainly hold for at least another five years. A very pleasing wine to accompany many …

Screwcap, 11% alc. Astoundingly lemon yellow colour, almost with a green hint. Much dissolved CO2; almost fizzy upon pouring. Lemon, buttered toast, Banana Boat suncream, and a gentle honey note. Juicy, rounded palate, with plenty of punch towards the long finish. Yet it possesses an underlying acidic frame. The wine transforms on day 2; tightening, growing searingly acidic, and presenting graphite, flint, and dried herbs, in addition to citrus peel. Opinion: Surprisingly soft upon opening, so pair carefully with food. …

A terrific value wine which punched way above its weight. Great shame that Hunter Valley Semillon does not get the recognition that it deserves. Its time will come. Vivid green hue, it is graceful and very light on its feet. It has quite a zesty citrus nose with hints of lemongrass and toastiness. Very lively body with a soft mouthfeel but developing a nice complexity of honey, nuttiness and orange peel. Beautiful long finish. Drink now to 2030+.

Day 5 in the fridge, previous evenings hadn't been motivated enough to write a TN however we're at the bottom of the bottle and this has click into gear: pure white nectarine, just a hint of Hunter Semillon toast, medium-bodied and slightly chewy, a filigreed lime acid spine drawing through the palate. Lovely.

Hunter Whistlestop 2020 #3 (Hunter Valley) : Mineral, a little toast and honey with a tiny touch of kerosene, slight green apple, lime over lemon pith, very slight butter as well. In the mouth it has medium plus intensity acidity, buttery, toast, with green apple, honey, a little texture, rich, long, lovely.

Screwcap, 11% alc. Pale green yellow. Lemon meringue pie, grilled nuts, sea spray, kaffir lime and a gentle toastiness coming in. Zingy acidity and a slight effervescence upon opening. Excellent length. Very clean. Opinion: Smashable; so easy drinking yet the complexity is already there. Holds up well after 2 weeks open. Years left in this. Excellent Semillon.

Wow. This has improved. Now showing old school classic hunter valley semillon with sunlight soap and lemon citrus. Lime juice, hay, soap and lemons. Extra length to the finish. So Doug Elliot. This is fabulous. I’m getting a dozen tonight. Long life ahead under Stelvin.

I love these wines when they are a little fuller mid palate than this wine at present, as they take me back to the richer Doug Elliot Belford of the 70’s. Pale straw in colour., and wet straw and lime juice on the nose but it is so undeveloped. More grassy on the palate with some lime zest and lemons on the finish. In an awkward phase right now. The vineyard and the vintage will shine, it just needs more …

{Screwcap, 11.5%} Pale lemon straw still. Could pass for current vintage. Nose shows some development though, a browning of citrus fruit, honeyed, with toasty overtones. The palate is still fresh, with medium acid and a hint of spritz, tangy lime flavours, bone dry - there’s no honey here! - and a dry powdery quality. Perhaps in a dumb phase, there’s a seeming watery sort of sense to the texture, and the finish seems a bit short and spotty. I think …

Hunter Valley Roadtrip 2015 : Floral, coconut, apple and lime. Juicy fruit on the palate, there is some good texture to it and nice length. Fairly simple style for now but good to drink.

Lovely-although I drank it far too young! I would buy 6 and put them away for 5 years or so. It had a creamy texture which surprised me as I was expecting a very acidic young wine. Everything in balance and very complex too.

Hunter Valley - 6 Cellar Doors (Hunter Valley) : {screwcap, 11.5%, A$23} Hay and straw aromas and flavours. Dry, talc-like texture, dusty and almost crunchy. Light/medium body. Medium length dry finish. Belford usually improves with age. This is good.

You get a glimpse of the flavours this will have in 5+ years. For now, it is a pleasing merger of subtle fruits with some honey notes held together with a nice acidity.

Still very undeveloped- helped to be in this state by still significant levels of co2 still in the wine- all those fine bubbles when you open the screw cap. This very dumb before giving it a decent shake to release all the co2 then nice lemon straw nose and a beautifully balanced palate good acid but now relatively soft compared to its sibling vat1. Needs another 5 years to get into its straps.

Still elemental with a long, long way to travel. Pristine, undeveloped unoaked Hunter semillon aromatics of straw, minerals, sunlight soap and preserved lemons followed by a stunning palate structure with bracing acidity and incredible length but with similar steely shy fruit underneath. A waste of time drinking this now if you have any idea on how (good) it will/should look in a decade. Great potential, but in a very awkward stage at present. 88+

Lovely straw, lime green colour. Bouquet of freshly cut grass and flowers. Taste begins with a hint of citrus then a big, smooth hit in the mid palate with nutty overtones. Long finish. A complex, beautiful wine with superb balance. Very drinkable.

Light green/yellow. Muted nose - some grapefruit. Fresh palate, minerals and little development. Some lemon and citrus notes. Finishes quite short.
