This is a really nice rum in this price range. My 'go to" rum whenever we are in Canada.

I hardly know anything about spirits, let alone rum. The only point of reference I have in this field is the standard white Bacardi, which is very, very basic as even I know. My lack of knowledge is the reason I won’t give a rating and just limit myself to describing my experience with this rum. This 7 year Havana Club is light-years away from the standard white Bacardi. It reminds me of a brandy/cognac. It could be sipped on …

Light copper colored Lots of burnt sugar and molasses off the nose, all spice, banana bread Hot to the lips but relatively smooth with a medium plus belly burn and a long finish. Tastes much like the nose with a hint of eucalyptus on the back end. Very good value rum. I use it for mixing but it can be sipped, preferably out of a flask outside on a cold stormy night.

It probably wasn't a fair comparison having first finished off a fine bottle of Ron Zacapa Centenario "Sistema Solera" 23 Gran Reserva rum ... but I find the Havana Club Añejo 7 Años is not really a great sipping rum - best served as a mixer in Rum & Coke. WSET Level 4 Course - WSET School; 9/6/2014-5/23/2015 (WSET School, Bermondsey) : Appearance: This is clear with a medium amber colour. Nose: The nose is clean showing pronounced intensity aromas of molasses, treacle, syrup, toffee, sweetness, oak. This is matured. Palate: This is dry in the mouth with warming alcohol. It has a medium body and medium intensity flavours of molasses, treacle, syrup, toffee, sweetness, oak. The finish is medium and some complexity. Conclusion: It is a good quality spirit. …

This rum is awesome (especially for the price!). Perfect blend of oak and vanilla; completely smooth. Best over some ice, but makes great cocktails as well. My go-to dark rum. I wish it was available in the States.

This has been my go to Rum for cocktails. You would have a hard time finding another dark rum for the price that tastes this full.
