L.019. Not much fruit. Blinded, I'd call Meunier. This would have been better a year or two ago.

Starts off kind of light, searingly dry and very acidic but air and temp help this put on some nice nuttiness and fleshy texture, oyster shells, herbs, interesting and definitely one that you want with food.

Base 2020. Slightly flat and watery on the palate. Weak notes of apple cider, lemon, vinegar. Surprisingly unapproachable. Perhaps a flawed bottle? I'll have to open another bottle to see if this was a one-off.

Base 2020. Very nice. Not too lean. Golden apples, lemon and nuttiness on the finish.

This was a pleasant surprise. Bought at steep discount (50% off). Deep golden color. The nose was initially unfocused. After 30 minutes in the glass, a bouquet of white flowers, truffles, almonds, brioche, and fresh oysters. Palate was refreshing with honey, ginger, and confirmation of the wine’s development. Drink now.

Organic blend of pinot noir & chardonnay. This particular bottle was the "11,12,13...22", disgorged in October 2024. This release is highlighted once again by a beautiful, gently oxidative character that keeps bringing you back for another sip (but that isn't so overwhelming that your palate tires of the challenge). Crazy long finish. If you like solera/vinous champagne, I cannot recommend this particular cuvée enough. APPEARANCE: Color & intensity: medium gold NOSE: Intensity: medium (+) Aromas: red apple, baking spices, toasted …

Wasn't impressed by this bottle, slightly over the hill oxidative notes and felt a little flat on the palate.

Gylden farve.

Disgorged October 2019, 50/50 PN/Chard. No dose, and I believe no S02. Opened this yesterday, working through more today. My final bottle of the 2017s, these have all been pleasurable and more juicy in tone. Golden in color, which is mostly usual for the R-L wines. This is flush with apple--red, yellow and green, with some oxidative edge, just enough to know it's there in a complementary way. Big juicy profile. The acidity is much like the previous bottle, with …

11,12,13...19 disgorged Oct 2021. Smells like a nice Jura chard. The palate has decent complexity but the texture is a little light and watery for me. Not bad but I had higher expectations for this bottle.

2017 base (2011-2017 perpetual reserve), my second of two bottles. I understand that some people have had mixed success with bottles from this domaine, but I just love this cuvee. For me, it has a lovely, broad and oxidative character without being overly rich or heavy that you don't want to have more than a few glasses. I'm not sure if this is more about a house stye or the perpetual reserve, but I'm a big fan. Really solid value …

mild salmon in color, very fresh, light raspberry, have to let all the bubbles settle down to get the true essence. quite acidic; more refreshing than satisfying

Logged this in as the 2019, although it's a perpetual back to 2011. October 2021 disgorgement, a blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay without dosage.. Has the golden hue that I often find in the R-L wines. Aromatics are cool, evocative. My initial reaction when I first opened it was white pepper and a little brown spice, but I suspect that the subjectivity factor of some other smart tasters could find some different things that I just cant identify. In …

It’s got a nice, oxidative, appley nose which reminds of E Brochet’s Mont Benoit. Some salinity as well. Palate was crisp and juicy, and the acid was almost cutting. They really wanted to drive home the fact that it’s brut nature. Interesting stuff for the current going price.

Cena a Troyes presso Crieurs de Vin durante il mio primo tour in Champagne. Primo vino della serata. 50/50 Chardonnay e Pinot Noir della Cote de Bar nell’Aube, perpetuelle dal 2011 al 2020. Note agrumate, finocchio, menta, liquirizia. Buona persistenza e leggermente minerale amaro in fondo. Non incontra molto il mio gusto personale

Disgorged Oct 2019. I am enjoying this bottle quite a bit. Nice complexity with a red apple thing going on, some yeastyness, and just a touch of oxidation. Great acid and balance.

Retail $65. 50% Pinot Noir, 50% Chardonnay. Biodynamic. Aged in oak foudres and stainless steel. We were in Austin, at one of the "hottest restaurants in town" and we opted for this cuvée from a grower in Essoyes in the Aube. While we were not entirely sure the hype for the restaurant was deserved (it was fine, but nothing more, and certainly not worthy of the price), this champagne was certainly the highlight. Made from a perpetual reserve, it is …

The aromatics here were wild — figuratively and literally. I found this interesting and nuances, nicely open structure and somewhat oxidative notes coupled with more red fruit than yellow, but the striking aroma was more interesting than enjoyable - and felt more “off” than anything else. Really wanted to love this cuvée, and still might given how much I enjoyed the bottle despite everything, but the Fosse Grely tasted alongside it was much more out together at present.

Champagne In My Backyard : Served blind. This was stinky in the aromatic. Sweet grapefruit, very juicy in texture, white pepper and easy drinking. Not sure what was up with the aromatic, thought.

Served blind. 2017 base. In looking at my previous note I'd say this one drank just the same. Winey, vinegar like nose. Some ginger with a chalky finish. Taste like a naturalish, no dose wine. Nailed it.

Blind Champagne at FMIII's : Tasted blind. Really weird Nose here: cereal; moussy; canned green beans. Don't like the aromatics at all. Very dry palate; underbrushy. Not my thing at all.

See 2/28/21 note. Acidity has tapered off since then and it shows a bit more fresh bread notes.

Not spectacular, but certainly fresh, clean and well-balanced. Good energy. Champagne meets dry Riesling, perhaps?

First of two that I bought back during the pandemic. Opened this about 90 mins ago. This is disgorged October 2019, 50/50 PN/Chard grown bio without sulfur in the Fosse plot, red clay over limestone. Good stuff here, but I find the R-L wines to usually hit my 'yes' button which is why I buy them every year. This bottle shows a cool juxtaposition of the PN and Chard. Think of a fresh mashed apple running into a tangerine that …
