nose of sous bois, tea, rust, dried leaves. On palate, good richness with a touch of sweetness. however the finish is not long.

Just a phenomenal bottle of wine that at this stage is about elegance, subtle complexity, grand cru depth and length. Couldn’t ask for more. This is why I love Burgundy.

Surprising color and fruit given very low fill. Savory nose, which is not my favorite, but very rich, black fruit on palate. Slightly medicinal finish, not unpleasant.

24-Hour Tampa Blitzkrieg; 2/27/2016-2/28/2016 : Ruby colour. Pretty but subtle nose of roses, eucalyptus, menthol, and softening black cherry. If the nose is subdued the palate absolutely explodes but fades over time. Slightly madarized. It's alive but this is its last legs for sure. Roses.

Burgundy tasting with GM (Circa Melbourne) : Volatile and porty with some sign of black fruits but dominated by oxidative characters. Light, dull and nutty with primarily sherry style notes clearly not a good bottle.

50th Birthday Celebration Dinner with Wine (Chez Schmidt - Chicago IL) : Big, ripe and lush, which led to a healthy discussion of whether or not this wine was 100% Pinot Noir, on which there was not tablewide consensus. Still, this was very charming with great classically Vosne spice.

This is a very impressive wine. Chocolate nose. It is moderately fresh but not a daisy by any means. The quality and balance is incredible, a wine that does not call attention to itself but is pure and shows gret quality.

Dinner at Bern's with Bruce and Maynard. Thorin exporter bottling. This was not as alive as the last bottle but still very elegant and had nice fruit.

DINNER AT BERN'S. This was stunning. Lots of spice and sweet red fruits. Definitley comfirmed in most of our minds that the mystery mag of 59 DRC the night before was RSV.

Dinner at Bern's. Well the bottle was a gamble. We didn't know what the vintage or the vineyard was as the label was completely gone and the mag had all kinds of dried dirt on it. We figured what the hell though, it IS a DRC. Well when the somm pulled the cork, woohoo, it was a 59. Now of course we had to figure out what 59 it was. We all came to the same conclusion. RSV, no doubt. …
