St. Francis Sangiovese Caro Santo

It has been over a year since we drank this wine. We decanted this bottle and what a difference. Tannins have mellowed substantially. As this wine opens the cherry and current notes become more prevalent. Love how it sits on back of tongue. Very drinkable. More like a Pinot than a Cab. Just not as full bodied as I would expect.

Just a brief note. Nice new world take on Sangiovese. Went well with pizza. Drink now or in the next 2-3 years.

Prefaced with bottle was not decanted. Overwhelming tannin flavor was first to hit the tongue. This hid the nice berry and cherry flavors that arrived much later. We will try decanting next to give the wine opportunity to open.

Nose- dark Cherry, steel, Taste - light, acidic, summery, decent balance and no lingering taste. Simple not complex

Black cherry fruit. Moderate tannins. A little residual sugar. An easy-drinker.
