Smoke, bacon fat, meat; palate drying a bit, but still quite good, with a firm structure; a nice wine, and the last of the half-case.

This is tasting much older than the bottle in June last year. Nose of smoke, spice and black olives, and is similar to a Côte Rôtie with at least twice the years. Initially a bit hollow on the mid-palate, but it fills out after 15 minutes. The fruit is definitely fading, but this was a nice accompaniment to the lamb and roast potatoes. I'll drink my last one soon.

Once again, beautifully consistent with prior bottles. Superb CdR.

A screamingly good value. Consistent with prior notes. Don't know if other vintages are this good, but this one is stellar.

Had this at Mark and Veronica's last night, but didn't take any notes. Stunningly good "CdR," which I put in quotation marks since I understand it is in essence declassified St. Joseph -- comes across almost like a "junior" Côte Rôtie. Good depth and terrific balance, not going over to the dark side of extraction and oak. Classy stuff.

First-rate CdR. Emblematic of the northern Rhone -- quite similar to Côte-Rôtie. I understand that the grapes for this wine come from a vineyard which lies just outside the Saint-Joseph appellation (too high an elevation to be within Saint-Joseph, apparently). Shows great class and breed for a CdR; tannins just a bit dry right now, but the fruit is lovely -- great aromatics of herbs and bacon fat.
