Pours a thin ruby color. Aroma - some fungus on the nose, a little red fruit, but it is not very pleasant. Taste - weird, somewhat metallic aftertaste. Again, not really good - maybe flawed. We will see with 2nd bottle.

This was better on the third day than after opening. It also really excels with food, even more than most wines do. Without food it is an 88-89 point wine; with food, 90. Let it breathe; it improves with air.

Special! Excellent quality for the price. Very impressive for a Carignan bottling. It is substantive, chewy, and tastes great. The hallmark of a great wine is the finish, and this offering features one that is protracted and complex.

Gamey, blackcurrant, toffee nose with some crunchy, nutty red fruit. Ripe fruit palate with a porcini mushroom element and slight bitter savoury twist at the end. This is the nicest sub £10 wine I've had in a while and one I could happily return to again. 88 points

I remember another Grotta Rossa. This has too much acidity and poor carignane flavour. It's only a pale shadow of the beautiful 2008

intense nose of red fruits, spicy palate and medium finish. One of the best everydy wine for a cheap price (6 eur). Worth a try
