Much more integrated than the 2021 I drank a few months ago! The bouquet is quiet, but the flavor is not: there is lush RRV fruit (dark plum highlighted by bright cherry and raspberry) followed by notes of blood orange and earl grey tea. The finish lasts 10-15+ seconds and boasts impressive acidity and some forest floor. I think this is in a great place right now. This was my only bottle, and I wish I had purchased more when …

Cab drinkers Pinot. Lacks acid but all the cherry is there. Versatile like cherry jam.

I’m not a big Pinot fan or drinker, but this was very nice! Dark fruit with earth and integrated sweetness. Medium plus depth.

Much better on day two than one. No formal notes: took a day for the Sonoma characteristics to come out. Too much barrel? Pinot for Cab lovers? NR because I think my preferences have changed since purchasing it.

Enjoyed at Easter with grilled Lamb Medallions. Perfect accompaniment.

Bold, fruity, and unctuous. Lots of elevated raspberry, strawberry and cherry flavors coupled with baking spice, licorice, and warm earth accents. The palate is very silky, accentuating all that fruit. I found this a little unbalanced. It’s tasty and drinkable but the fruit seems to overpower everything.

Natural cork. Light purple in the glass. Quite a bit of alcohol on the nose, doesn't blow off. OK wine, wouldn't return.

Lush, dark berry notes with little to no tannins. Pleasurable and enjoyed it with dinner but didn’t get much depth or complexity - just an easy drinking, fruit heavy pinot

Medium purple, cherry and raspberry with hint of vanilla and fennel and cardamom. Medium body with velvety feel, there is balance and harmony here. The tannins are supple yet well integrated and the finish is memorable. A delicious Sonoma Pinot from Chappellet.

Dark crimson, this has aromas of oak, pencil lead, black cherry and dark fruit. Rich and complex, with tastes of licorice, spice, espresso, cola, blackberry and black cherry, rolling across the palate to a long, mouth coating finish. Balanced, harmonious, full-bodied, with fine grained tannins, this wine is delicious !

Dutton Ranch is a great place to source the grapes. This is somewhere between a typical NOCAL pinot and one from Burgundy. fruit came close to the coying "cherry cola" that I do not like in a NOCAL, but tea and spice notes came to rescue in time. Enjoyable wine to sip looking out over the lake on their property.

Brick red in complexion, hints of vanilla, cherry and raspberry. The oak isn’t as prevalent in this Pinot which is from the hills above the Russian River valley. The palate is well balanced with medium low acidity, smooth profile, tannins are polished and well integrated into the wine. The finish is lingering well for a Pinot. Highly recommend this wine from Chappellet.

I want to like it, and I love a lot that this winery does, but this was thin with some funk. I’d almost say it’s a cork issue, but I’ve had many a bottle of Dutton Ranch and many the same. More earthy with mushrooms and moss, might be others flavor profile.

This wine opens gracefully over time with a bouquet of aromas of bold spices, dark fruit, and ripe tomato. It warmly hugs your palate with tasting notes of lightly toasted oak, cedar, and hints of fresh sawdust while maintaining its structure with fresh red fruits and ending with a clean and bright finish. Best if decanted for an hour or more. Somewhat lacking in uniqueness and complexity but a beautiful Pinot overall. Would pair with a lean filet of steak …

A lovely balance of dark minerality, smokey earth and deep blackberry and rasberry flavors. Well balanced acidity. Certainly a darker and slightly fruit driven Pinot - but enjoyable with a wide variety of dishes and on its own, as well.

W cacio e pepe & bottarga. The 2014 was shot (bitter and no fruit). This was much better but in need of “drink up”. Good fruit and big body but not super appealing, the palate is real work to like - which i did in the end.

In the bolder California style, so if you’re after a more Burgundian Pinot this wouldn’t fit the bill. Candied cherry, baking spice, a bit of cola, and a tug of earth drive through a long finish.

Quite a deep red, almost looks like a cab. Quite an easy going wine with red fruit, a good amount of sweetness, and a bit of minerality, fading to a darker palate with some nice complexity. Medium length finish with low tannin. This would be a great wine for a mixed group of wine lovers and wine newbies.

Note of sour cherry at first, fading to moss and tree bark with hints of cherry. Wonderfully balanced. If you want the sour cherry notes, drink immediately. They fade in 30 minutes or so.

Good wine. Not much on the nose. Ripe fruits, sharp acidity, and rich mouthfeel. Just a bit of spice or tobacco. Short finish. Good, but nothing special. Relatively low QPR.

Nice big-Napa-style Pinot. Ruby/dark ruby color, with medium/full body. Good cherry, strawberry flavors with hints of tobacco and pepper. Finish is a bit short and hot - might mellow with more time. Bigger and bolder than a typical Pinot - good with food. Fair QPR - fine for a club wine, but I wouldn't stretch for this in a store.

Be patient with this one. Not a pop n pour at this time. I had this over two days and the second day was by far better than the first. It really opened up into the pinot that we all know and love.

Big and ripe Pinot Noir; lots of alcohol initially, but it fades and integrates over time.
