A little bit better than previous bottle from some years ago, but oof - so big and alcoholic. Stewed fruit and almost raisiny and port-like. Had a small glass and that was enough. Definitely not for me.

Cooked/baked quality of fruit. Raisins and rotting strawberries but with a tiny fresh streak running through it. Dusty leather, herbs and bloody beef… full body, med tannin and for the amount of higher alcohol (16%!) it has remarkable acidity. Nice long finish and a great pairing with prime rib

PNP. Deep dark magenta color. Mulberry, French toast, raspberry, crème fraiche, basil, and marmalade. Dry, plush palate, with satiny, lingering acidity. Firm, full tannins on the longish finish. Emergency pull at the end of the evening. Enjoyed by most. I liked it, but didn’t love it. This is a strange CdP.

fig, mint, eucalyptus, strawberry, raspberry, pencil shavings, caramel, molasses, black pepper... Pretty complex. But way too much alcohol kinda giving a not so pleasant after taste and throwing it a bit off balance. But good mouthfeel and body Edit: updating this from 89 to 91 as it improved dramatically after 1 hour decanting

Yes, it's a blockbuster, both in term of style and reflecting the vintage, but if you like ripe Grenache (yes, I'm guilty), this os quite a lovely wine - or maybe not lovely, but robust, sweet, crea,y, carressing. Still young. #Modtryk#Møntergade

Brief nots from a social event. A wine that is developing more and more depth. Ripe fruit of cherry, fig and kumquat, meaty notes, crushed black pepper and olive tapenade. Concentrated, dense and structured palate, a bit of heat as drawback, but well-integrated. This bottle has been evolving nicely and I felt pretty encouraged by this bottle for the prospects over the next 10 years.

Brief notes from a social event: Rather extracted and close to over-ripe candid fruit of raisins, smoky overlay. Elements of roasted nuts, cedar wood and whiffs of leather. Fortunately aeration manages to add fresher tones to the fruit. The palate better with well-integrated, soft tannin and good balance. After 2 hours in decanter and some time in the glass, medium (almost med-) fruit forward nose remains rather tightly wound around Asian spices and pepper, black cherry, chocolate and charred wood. Medium ruby colour. Nose of red fruit and it's like you can smell the tannin after having been left to open do a couple of hours. On the palate very juicy dark berries, balanced acid and good length. Tannins more pronounced as time went on. Delicious.

Had this at a social event hence only brief notes from memory. Not decanted and none really needed. Intense and fruity with black tea complexity. Great balance, powerful but still refined. Best bottle of the Clos St Jean so far and it seems the bottle age is really starting to elevate this.

Final bottle of six. Way too much alcohol. 16%. Way too sweet. Light rim. Black cherry, moss/earth, concentrated red fruits and blueberries. Medium acidity, medium tannins. I probably would not buy again due to its lack of finesse. Just seems like a rushed project of high alcohol juice from a good year.

Comes out of the gate hot with alcohol very apparent. Settles down after 2 hours with fleshing out of fruit but it really still is overshadowed a bit by burly tannins and the alcohol.
