This is a cool climate Syrah, rather than an Aussie Shiraz. One is greeted by a warm earthy nose, hinting of perhaps a big bodied wine but on the palate it is mid weight and elegant rather than robust. Mixed berry fruit. High acidity medium fine tannins. Long finish, some complexity. Drinking now and I think will drink well for another 5 to 10 years.

This is bloody great. The word elegant appears in all the pro reviewers commentary, and it’s the best way to describe this. Absolutely gorgeous showing from giaconda. Balanced to perfection. And a lifetime ahead of it.

Drank at Matteo’s from the wine list. Very tight early but the 2% viognier began to lead it it to open up. Lovely balance and structure. Great fruit structure. Good length. Needs a decade.

@davidbalint1: '14 Giaconda Estate Shiraz from barrel was a cracker. Will develop into even a smarter wine than the 13. Wait, then get on to it. 93+
