Mostly opaque deep purpley grape color, some fruit on nose, medium body, good acidity, a little bitterness on the palate and finish

Morgante's 2020 Nero d'Avola was fermented in stainless steel and briefly aged thereafter in once-used French Allier and Tronçais barriques. Opaque crimson in color, it flaunts an intense aromatic profile of chocolate-covered cherries, blackberries, licorice, allspice and savory herbs. Medium-to-full-bodied, minimally oaked and without alcoholic heat (14.5%), it delivers flavors comparable to the aromas, buttressed with lively acids and a modicum of powdery tannins. Dense on the mid-palate and lengthy on the back end, this is a terrific expression of …

This is a big Nero d'Avola but pretty balanced with lovely fruit. Great with lamb.

TB: Nose shoed dark cherry, a bit of pine forest, and some vanilla. Additionally, there seemed to be some brett in there, which blew off after about an hour or so. Flavors of lots of cherry and a hint of vanilla. This had a surprisingly nice and subtle tannic kick, but seemed a bit light on acidity.

Nose of cranberry. Very one dimensional but quaffable. Found unusual sediment, may have been crystalline. Looked like tiny sticks at the bottom, very gritty.

This was pretty terrible. I actually forced myself to taste through about half the bottle to see if some air would help out, unfortunately it did not. No fruit to speak of, thin body and nondescript finish. Just a super dry, unappetizing wine.

Good, low-end pinot-like taste.

Sort of a spoofulated, estery nose. Dark sweet cherries, chocolate, touch of coffee grounds, raisins. I found it overextracted and lacking freshness, but i could see how the fruit bomb crowd might dig it -- and indeed some at the table loved this.

Surprisingly good for the money. Keep in mind that most italian wines are meant to be consumed with food and this is one of them. Classic italian style with medium fruit and decent acidity. It was a good match with our cannelloni.

Agree with earlier comment that lacking on the mid-palate. Nose of spice and red fruit, but mouthfeel and finish leave me wanting more. May be a good "rustic" wine with food, but by itself, not much to get excited about.

Medium-bodied wine with rounded profile but a little flat in the mid-palate. Notes of cherries, chocolate and caramel, but it tasted a little "brown" in the mid palate. Not bad but I was expecting a little more.
