Decanted for two hours and consumed over the next four. Exceptionally dark color, almost India ink in appearance. Nose was somewhat subdued but gave off some aromatics. On the palate, this was one best wines I have been fortunate enough to consume. Full, concentrated, rich and ripe fruit that stimulated all oral pleasure centers. The finish was lengthy and perfectly balanced in acidity and tannins.

Big chewy wine, with tobacco, some leather, dark fruits. I agree with others that it doesn't show its high alcohol. However, I would be leary of holding on to this too much longer. I am getting some pruney and tea notes in the background that sometimes come into the foreground in these types of wines. Very engoyable now though.

Very big wine - had with some bbq and it went really well. Good mouthfeel and still had enough fruit to balance out the alcohol. Didn't seem hot at all.

Drank at a tasting for "big reds," this was the most nuanced and delicate of the bunch - which made it stand out. Alcohol/heat seemed non-existent, while the finish of dark fruits and a touch of earthen acidity lingered beautifully. Glad I have two more.

Dark inky purple in color. Gorgeous loads of blue and red fruits with damp earth make up the nose. On the palate, abundant flavors of licorice, kirsch liqueur, smoky herbs, and minerals comprise a full-bodied, seamlessly constructed wine. This syrah possesses a sensational texture, depth, and length. Outstanding.

Pop and poured over dinner at Elements in Pasadena (paired w/ duck breast and tomato tartar). Dark purple in the glass. Full bodied syrah w/ taste of dark plum and tar. Smooth with alcohol and tannin peaking through a little on the finish. Not as structured as the '05 but still very enjoyable.
