Enzo Boglietti Barolo Arione

This is the good side of the vintage: mellow and ready to enjoy in a warm, welcoming manner. A hint of oak, but also plenty of ripe but well-defined Nebbiolo fruit, dark and pretty sleek and certainly very tasty. There's a cough mixture/boiled sweet angle too, and a decently long finish that leaves a pleasingly bitter, brambly taste lingering after each sip.

Black cherry, forrest floor, tomato stem and tobacco on the complex nose. Weighty on the palate with smooth tannins and hint of alcohol on finish. Very pleasant but maybe a little less acidity in this vintage.

4h slow ox and enjoyed over the next 2h. Profound nose. Classic tar, leather & roses, exquisitely perfumed, chocolate, sweet stewed & spiced fruit. Tingles and teases. Silky & expansive mid-palate, structured & elegant. Tannins are well resolved. Medium finish. In a great spot now but probably won't improve from here? Would be a mistake not to decant.

Lovely drinking. Still quite a dense, inky colour, with a perfumed, floral nose. Tannins feel well integrated now (we didn’t decant) and lovely balsamic notes on the palate.

dark Ruby. Bewitching nose of tar and potpourri and rose petals. But on the palate, some melon rind, some pith. Prominent tannins .
