Way past its prime.

Boxed, cellophaned, sealed under wax and cork. A bit of excess packaging, but the cork was in excellent shape and the wine appears drinkable. Delicate, dried rose petal colour with a gradual fading to orange pekoe tea at the rim. Clear and medium dark in the glass. Mostly dried red berries on the subtle nose with sour cherry, leather, cedar, spice and stone dust. Medium-light bodied, somewhat thin and tart, weak tea tannins and a dry finish. Tasted at the Three Borders Wine Group, Hampshire, UK. A rare privilege to be able to taste this Moldovan wine which is 25 years old, a Bordeaux blend of cabernet sauvignon and merlot. Thanks to our host for bringing it back from a trip to Moldova. This bottle had been opened 3 hours before we tasted it and decanted immediately prior to tasting.
