Hard to believe that it has been seven years since I first tried this wine. It’s still got some teeth, but it’s also developed aromatic and flavor complexity, including rose petal, dark cherry and spice notes. It smells like Nebbiolo. It’s a little angry, like Nebbiolo. Pretty good outcome for the inaugural vintage of this wine from Idlewild. I still have one more, and will let it sit a little longer just to see how it resolves. There’s still plenty …

Three years removed from the last bottle I drank and still showing nicely; probably even better than the first. Lots of acidity, medium body, integrated tannins, earthy but showing dark berries and density throughout.

Blinds at Eric's (Chicago, IL) : Served double blind. Unpleasant aldehydic nose. Acidic water with some alcohol mixed in.

Finally getting around to writing up my note in this wine from last week. I had been wanting to try this since it arrive in the spring, but never got to it until Wednesday. Right at opening it was very aromatic, with cherry and floral aromas coming out with zero coaxing from me. The color of the wine was quite pale, especially around the rim, and the overall elegance of the wine reflected that. From the front through the mid-palate …

7% Solution, SF 2015 (SF) : Very light concentration red-ruby in color. N: Savory, mushroomy, tomato, rose petals - high toned. Faintly oxidative (not oxidized). Interesting and complex nose. Ripe peach aromatics. Savory baked aromas. I wish I had more time with this. P: Ripping tannins. Elevated acidity, elevated alcohol (14-14.5%?). I really like this. Gripping tannins with good chewy texture. Sweet flavors. Around 9.

Liked this quite a bit, although certainly pricier than Dolcettos from Italy. That being said, it was richer than some from Italy. Strangely reminiscent of Italians, but different enough that it's a nice twist.

What a pretty wine this is. Red fruits and vibrant acidity made this a perfect match with my pizza, and the depth of flavor made it an appealing drink on its own as well. I could drink this all day long. Excellent.

Clear red color. Cranberries on the nose and palate. Medium-bodied with a finish that leaves you wanting more. Nicely balanced. Another good wine from Sam & Jessica!
