The Eighth Annual World's Largest Blind Tasting of American Sparkling Wine (Houston, Texas) : Retail $13. Extremely Heavy Bottle (887g; 31.2oz). “Varietals like Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier.” Brilliant straw with a fine sparkle and a close-to-classic nose with more tree fruit and a touch of croissant/yeastiness. Good fruit on the palate and equally good tartness which makes it pretty well-balanced. A touch sweet, but it works, at least for me. Not the most sophisticated wine in the line-up, …

Just about drinkable but unimpressive - coarse foam, strong apple flavor - could have been sparkling cider

Very bland and meh when only consumed as a sparkler. Works better in a French 75 or mimosa.

The Seventh Annual World's Largest Blind Tasting of American Sparkling Wine (My House, Houston, TX) : Retail $13. Extremely Heavy Bottle (874g; 30.8oz). “Varietals like Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier.” Peach and pear are at the top of the list here of aromas in this pale straw wine. Fruity and rich with plenty of tartness, this swings a bit toward the overly fruity side, which is fine. Very nice. Very Good. 89 Points. www.thedrunkencyclist.com

Second time tasting (this time aboard Princess Cruises). Pale yellow hue. Aromas of almond, apple, citrus, minerals, pear, toast. Pronounced apple and pear on the palate. Light bodied with high acidity. Lingering finish. Solid, budget alternative to traditional Champagnes. Blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier, Pinot Noir.

Test bottle from GO for USD 8, bought 3b more; this is #1. Pleasant, simple everyday sparkler--some fruit, good effervescence. Passive subterranean horizontal storage since purchase. Quality/age/price: Notable.

Medium to Deep apple colour. Sweet toned nose has lots of golden apple, touch of vanilla and a whiff of bitterness. Taste is half-dry, while labeled as brut, while replicating the apple, adding some pinoty herbiness, vanilla mousse, and some fruit stone bitterness. Good, but bit simple and not too well balanced, especially with the sweetness.

**Sparkling Friday** (14/20) Fresh and easygoing sparkler from Washington State. The methode classique on the bottle indicates sur lattes ageing on the bottle, but the wine doesn't have much autolyse tones. Pleasant wine though. Medium intense aromas of tangerine, white grapefruit, pear, lemon zest, blossom, almond, wet iron. Off dry wine, medium+ acidity, light body, medium+ flavour intensity, medium- length finish. 11,5% ABV - RS tasting @ Robin

Citrus and some white stone fruit. Leans to the dry side with high acidity and a short finish. Cava probably better in this price range.

It's mid-June and I need a refreshing drink. This one is labelled as a Brut, meaning it can have up to 12 g/l of sugar. After a bit of digging I found it runs 6.3 g/l, just slightly into the Brut category. It shows 11.5% ABV, which is normal for a traditional method sparkling wine. The color is medium lemon and the mousse is quite fine. On the nose I get aromas of brioche, Meyer lemon zest, cinnamon, toast, biscuit, …

Princess Cruises Grapevine Tasting (Ruby Princess) : Small bubbles, light straw in color. Clean yeasty bread, green apples, lemon zest, and honey on the nose. Simple palate of apples, lemon zest. Dosage seems to be on the higher side for a Brut. Short clean mineral finish. If the price is right, this is decent.

Tasting Training for WSET Level 4, Units D4 + D5 - Session 1 : Wine 2: The wine is pale lemon in colour. The nose has medium intensity and shows mostly primary characteristics of green fruit (e.g., apple), citrus fruit (e.g., grapefruit, lemon), and herbaceous notes (grass), but also light secondary characteristics from autolysis like bread dough. On the palate the wine is dry, with medium(+) acidity that seemed artificial, medium alcohol, a medium body, and medium intensity of flavours. …

Pale yellow with a combo of medium and large bubbles. On the nose l get biscuits, some green apple and grapefruit. The palate is medium dry with good fizz. Yellow apples, a touch of citrus and more of that biscuit flavor all meld nicely with the bubbles on the palate. The wine lacks any serious acidity but it drinks nicely at our Thanksgiving brunch. 87 points and 4 stars for this $13 quaffer. Makes a great Mimosa btw. https://caspernick.com/2020/11/27/domaine-ste-michelle-michelle-brut-columbia-valley-usa/

It ain't champers, but it doesn't cost what champers costs. Decent mass-production bubbles, balanced and dry as a bone (in a good way).

Retail $13. “Varietals like Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier.” There is a lot going on in that previous sentence, but I have decided to ignore it. I have been a fan of Château Ste. Michelle (the sparkling wines are made by CSM under the "Domaine Ste. Michelle" label) for a while now, not only do they produce some fantastic wines at very reasonable prices, it turns out that many winemakers in the state of Washington got their start at …

I guess you get caught up in the hype on these less than $15.00 bottles of Sparkling wine all these point ratings etc. What you get is a decent $13.00 bottle of Sparkling wine. A little sweeter than I expected with mostly pear on the palate. Was decent but nothing fantastic. Certainly better than a Korbel for the price point.

Tasted at the winery. After a superb tasting, this was served as a "bonus" at the end and we really wish they hadn't. It was a bit like a cheap prosecco.
