Encore jeune. À l‘ouverture c’est superbe, équilibré, très digeste. On le laisse ouvert debout quelques heures puis au moment de le servir, il a développé pas mal de tertiaire. Encore très bon mais je le préférais à l’ouverture. À garder en tête pour une prochaine bouteille.

On first pour a flush of floral perfume which quickly tightened up to a more mineral profile. Much more accessible on the palate with bright acid balancing some dark berries and ivy, rose petal in the background. Amazing seamless texture, airy but sappy. After 3 hours more red fruited with some supple leathery potpourri and white mushroom. One of my wines of the year.

Really enjoyed this. Dynamic nose and palate, great balance, 01 is not for the long haul but yes does it sing now!

Tasted next to Chevillon’s 2014 N-S-G 1er Les Vaucrains. Not much on the nose here - hints of bright red fruit and spices. On the palate equally tight with firm grip, well integrated acidity, pure if slightly thin fruit, good depth, fine length. Needs time. 91-93(+?)

Dark red fruit, smoky, salinity, after aeration shows its power, density and length. Still young, better wait another 2-3 years before opening, 92+.

That Chambolle nose is to die for...Young but a beauty. Long aftertaste , last bottle from this year.

Opened and earthy aromas laced with truffles and dark fruits immediately seduced. Still grippy with decent tannins which no doubt will soften through the drinking window. Medium length and just so good right now! This is a lot more muscular than most other plots from this grower.

2/2, good cork (c30% soaked). Pale/medium garnet core, wide pale garnet/mahogany rim. Lovely perfumed, quite dark fruited nose, sweetness with just a note of decay. Medium/full on the palate, quite rich for a Barthod, dark fruit, touch of tea, mulch, round and soft with fully resolved tannins, fresh acidity, decent length harmonious finish. Fully mature, delicious!

2004 vintage

This has come on beautifully and is even more open than my 2013 bottle, with no signs of over-maturity at all. Wonderful cherry fruit with a little Chambolle funk hiding in the background. Unbelievable balance and texture. As good as Burgundy at this level gets and comfortably comparable to - an admittedly not as ready - 06 Lambrays GC a few weeks ago.

quite shy on the nose and tight in the mouth. There are pretty whiffs of red and blue fruits and it oozes minerality. It is a wine of fragrance and structure and really builds through the palate, fanning out on the finish.Q

Fruit forward - hint of possible heat damage. Nice concentration on taste and long fruit and flower finish. Still a bit tannic so more aging needed.

Very gently double decanted, not sure if necessary in hindsight. An attractive profile of darker red cherry and cranberry, damp earth, with a firm finish - no green notes but definitely a cool vintage feel. Excellent transparency. Still needs more time (3/5yrs) but promising. ***1/2+

Medium red, funky nose that needs about 20minutes in the glass to blow off, light bodied and feminine, just lovely but I would have liked a bit more fruit, this faded rapidly after 2 hours, to enjoy this wine open 30 minutes to breathe and drink up within an hour or so. 92

Barrel tasting at the domaine. The first of the 1er crus tasted. Beaux Bruns vineyard is lower on the slope, with deeper soil, which typically produces a more giving and approachable wine with more flesh than the 1er crus higher up the slope. Immediately darker than the villages wine. It still has the red berry sweetness of the villages but there is a darker edge and more ripeness and roundness on the nose and palate. This is the reason I drink burgundy. Full rich, voluptuous kirsch cherry flavors and nose. More mineral with some air, and some wood spice. Best bottle of the case.

Tale of two wines here. Double-decant. First 1/2: about 83 in the point scale. Bunches 'o' green at first; dill + misc. Comes through to a lesser extent on the palate, but still present. Blows off and the 2nd 1/2 of the bottle is much more enjoyable -- green is replaced by a nice mélange of spice. Fruit goes darker too, which is neither here nor there. Interesting bottle on the overall. Buy again? No.

Christmas WIMPs - Burgundy II (La Trompette, Chiswick) : Pale/medium garnet, pale garnet rim. Shows mature, earthy but attractive red fruits, white pepper notes distinctive of the vintage. Medium bodied, moderately deep a touch spare but not unattractive with some gamey notes coming through on the medium/good length finish. Drinking now and don't see any upside in holding for longer. ***

when first opened, it seemed a bit tight and thin, showing crunchy red berry fruit profile, and a bit too much of an acidic zing on the finish. When we returned to this wine about an hour later, it had completely fleshed out and became a very nice Chambolle with all of the signature red berry profile I love about CM. Started very tight, but though I was keenly looking for green meanies, there were none to be found. Nice floral notes, with crunchy red berries, mostly raspberry and a dash of tart cranberry. It loosened up after 90 minutes. I will hold my other bottle for at least another 3 years.

Deep red fruits and grilled meat on the nose. Spicy sweet fruit with silky tannins on the palate. Drinking beautifully.

This is a wonderful Chambolle! Now (2014) is probably the best time to drink it. I found lots of bouquets as soon as opening it. But after air for an hour, the aroma gets even more flourish. Very elegant wine. Highly recommended.

From 75cl, excellent cork. Light red cherry-juice colour fading to a tawny rim: no mistaking this for a younger wine. First bottle of case just bought. Lovely perfumed nose,. Taste is elegant yet structured, floral, pepper and black current , well-balanced tannins. drinking very well right now. Could not detect any greenness which some find in this vintage. Outstanding .

Just outstandingly good. Somewhat reticent nose, with both a little earthiness and some floral, rose-like, notes. The quiet nose is not reflected in the mouth though, and this is absolutely full of life, fabulous acidity, with beautiful light red fruits and an underlying minerality. Drinking perfectly in its early maturity, will carry on evolving for awhile, I'm sure.

Faded red. Gorgeous aromas of ripe strawberry and a whiff of smokiness. Light weight, subtle, carressing texture that gently falls away at the back of the palate. Whereas 18 months ago, I found it to be a little acidic, this has fleshed out beautifully and there is just a hint of residual tartness. Solid cork, wine streaked half way up. Burgundy color with sunset at the rim. Quiet nose for the first half hour then opens to dried cherries, cranberry sauce and moss. Chabolle Musigny Dinner at Lavandou (Lavandou, Washington DC) : Classic, pretty and coy Chambolle. Beautifully perfumed, red cherries, raspberry preserve, mineral and a hint of earth. Fruit, acidity and tannins are in perfect harmony. Just classic, beautiful Chambolle at its peak, not unlike Truchot in style with beguiling airiness and core energy.

Bryan's Barhod Offline (28-50, London) : Far lighter in colour than the 96 or indeed any of the previous wines. Curious nose of peanut brittle that blows off after a while and shows a far lighter profile. Light, fragrant, what I was expecting for Chambolle. Lighter, more fragrant, scented, very pretty. A lovely minerality and femininity. I like this very much. ****1/2

The first experience with this producer, this wine showed well and provided a sound introduction. The wines displays a subtle but detailed personality. There is excellent balance on the palate. Currently, the wine provides a combination of maturity and youthfulness. It is at or around its peak.

Stunning! Matched perfectly with Roasted Hake. Beautiful aromas of red fruits and flowers, with a hint of secondary development. Light bodied, elegant entry, wide mouth and great length. Pointless scoring this, its just an skillled winemaker making wine to drink not shout about.

Had a few days ago, so no detailed notes. Was better than I expected, still with the legs to last a few more years in current very good condition.

Medium, clear red. No signs of maturity. All Chambolle all the time-crackling sour cherry aromas, delicate light to medium weight with some licorice and sap, cranberry acidity that is enlivening but not too tart. The finish could be a bit more harmonious; maybe that will come with more time. That aside, this was a gorgeous bottle that is not far from its apogee. I'm so grateful to have tried this, as my one previous bottle was flawed.
