Roessler Pinot Noir Hein Family Vineyard

Cherry and earth and mushroom right out of the gate. A little allspice and a touch of rock on the nose as well. Perfectly balanced, and has a hint of tannin remaining to give it some grit. Palate is full of earth and fruit - a delicious Pinot combination. This is doing really well, and has a pretty long finish to add icing to the cake. Drink or hold.

Funky on the nose with dark fruits. The palate silky smooth, with black cherry and strawberry. Nice acidity balances the finish. What it lacks in depth it makes up for in spunk.

Big cherry fruit, balanced with nice acidity. Silky texture. Long finish with some earth, spice. This had a lot of life left. Enjoyed more than prior bottles a few months ago.

One the best Roesslers I have tasted. Elegant color, lovely bouquet, and deep pinot character with cherry predominant.

Opened not decanted. Terrific wine right out of the gate. This is the reason why I bought it at the winery. Black cherry attack with light red cherry in the middle; light in bodyweight with a dry cherry finish. A mix of watermelon, cherry and apricot on the nose in the empty glass. Very Good.

Dark. If I didn't know better, I'd say there was some Syrah in it. Dark red fruits on the nose with just a little mushroom funk. Medium body. Nose continues on to the palate with dark red fruits and just a hint of funk. Alcohol spikes a tiny bit at the finish as it decants. I don't think it will get any better than it is, although it can probably hold for another 2-3 years. At $46, not a QPR …

Deep red color. Medium body with a nice silky feel in the mouth. Red fruit on the nose, citrus, sour cherry flavors with a moderate finish.

Friday night at home following Ben's game a 29-8 win over Barringer. Karl came to the game we had oysters and pumpkin risotto and a "tasting" of 3 Roessler Pinots - the '06 Savoy, '07 Hein and '07 Sanford. Savoy came 3rd of the three with Hein and Sanford a virtual tie for WOTN. Karl took the remainders home.

Interesting sharp fruit with "high notes" of sharp tropical fruit (creamy passionfruit, guava) and "low tones" of berry. In the mouth mouthfuls of sourish, deep, ripe fruit (citrusy red berry and cherry) with notes of wood, earthiness (old figs or old mushrooms) in good balance with the acid. Finishes with the palate elements fading through wood notes, medium in length. Dry. Body medium, acid medium, tannin medium minus.
