The wine looks ruby colored. The legs are slow. It smells like raspberry, red currant, cranberry, cherry, forest floor, mineral, stoniness, light toast, oak, cedar, clove and violet. The body is medium/full. The wine has silky texture. The wine finishes long. The wine has medium acidity.

This Is showing beautifully right now from 750ml. Dark chewy tobacco but not overwhelming - fruit still present but gently decrescendoing. A throw back to earlier Palacios vintages and a reminder of why his wines exploded into the market in he 90’s.

From magnum. No formal notes, over dinner. Some discolouration around the rim. Expressive nose - spicy, dark fruit, smoke, earth, old leather. On the palate slightly drying, especially towards the finish. Not too much fruit, but well integrated acidity and tannins. Drink or keep. 91-93

From magnum. Pop and pour. This needed more time in the decanter. Vibrant, dark fruits but tannins still quite chewy at this stage.

Drank 3 mags over 2 nights. First two were excellent but the third, after being open for 24 hours, was spectacular. Glorious, bright red fruit. Super match with the grouse.

corked - just slightly, but it's there...and the wine is flat as a result, as well. bummer.

Very good aged priorat wine. At this point blackberries, plum, leather, vanillin..but integrated oak. Wonderful acidity, but time to drink these up. Paired wonderful at our dinner at Vera in Chicago.

A delicious wine, and the group's WOTD. Fruity with well integrated oak, this has matured into a perfumed, smooth wine of medium to medium plus body. Not tremendously complex or particularly a model of the varietal characteristics of its component grapes (garnacha and carinena, I believe), but very pleasing. 93-94

Cleaner and more pure than my last bottle, this was singing tonight. Amazing that Tanzer's note from 1999 (14 years ago!) describes this wine to a tee! There is great balancing acidity, as well. If someone told me I would never have a better btl of wine than this ever again, that would be fine with me. Lots of time left for well-stored btls. Outstanding.

Brilliant, medium deep ruby right to the edge - no sign of bricking. Red fruits, wild strawberry, leather, earth on the nose. These repeat on the palate with significant minerality and tannin, still. Classic, very structured. Bonnie loves the nose, but finds the "iron" on the palate not to her liking. This is, amazingly, better on day two. No risk of this dying soon, and maybe even still improving. 91+. (Old world fans can add a couple points to my …

Deep ruby color. This is faded. Aromas of dry leaves in winter, some dirt and a little black cherry. On the palate it falls apart at the middle. Too bad.

Wonderful wine that is in midpeak, with no danger of falling anytime soon. Exuberant black currant, violets, tar, leather with chewy minerality and long silky finish. Drank like a great Bordeaux.

DAWGS - April (De Tapas, Addison, TX) : Floral nose, violets and mineral, lettuce? Med+ body and acid, high tannin. Very dry, food wine. Juicy black cherry, violets, mineral. Long finish with a little tobacco. Elegant and balanced, loved it.

DAWGS April 2009 - Spanish Wines (De Tapas, Addison, TX) : WIML93-94? Tasted April 22, 2009 at an offline. Purple color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of rose petals, currants, lircorice, white pepper and a mix of dark fruits. Flavors of berries, cherries, plums and currants. Medium acidity and tannins, medium to full bodied. Drink or hold. This was my WOTN. Elegant.

Black as night and pretty monolithic on night #1. I could have sworn i smelled American Oak (not a good thing IMHO), but the importer's website says french. Still, it's not yet integrated. This may someday be an enjoyable wine, but today it's not showing complexity. Day 2 - oak still front and center, but dark fruit, licorice, and steak provide a much more interesting palate than day 1. Either hold for another 5-10 years or act like it's from …

With all the recent discussion about Priorats not ageing I decided to try my first of these in magnum and see how it developed over several days. Opened and decanted half the mag, recorking the other half in the bottle and storing in the fridge. Decanted half left for 2 hours and then drunk over 2-3 hours. On opening the bottle a tremendous nose of rich, voluptuos, warm (not hot), dark fruits emerges. However, in the glass the nose is …

Spanish dinner at Think Cafe (Chicago, IL) : Dark ruby. Nose has chocolate powder, spice and black minerals. Medium to full bodied and full of rich, pure and focused fruit. Licorice, minerals and dark fruits abound. Suave tannins are still present but in balance with the concentrated fruit. Full flavored, long finish.

Deep red in color, purple at the center. After ten years, this is still a deeply colored wine. Ripe cherry, blackberry, cedar and sandalwood on the nose. The fragrance is quite intense. On the palate this showed toasted woods, sour cherry, curry spice and a hint of lemongrass at the finish. Tannins are well integrated. The wine has an acidic end which completes the flavor well and marries well with food. The wine was decanted two hours prior to drinking. …

Was awesome! After the unreal Dofi 1994 the 1995 is the best I've had.
