This vintage is showing so nicely. Great balance and energy. Still a few years away from showing its whole self.

Rich, intense, spicy, oily, quite local and very fresh with both orange and citrus. No hurry to drink this. #H&N&NB#Kandestederne

A blend of organically farmed Marsanne planted in 1958 (80%) and Roussanne planted in 1974 (20%), both sourced from the famous Coteau des Oliviers vineyard. Both the varieties are co-fermented spontaneously, then aged for 11-12 months in typically used oak barriques and 600-liter demi-muids (although in some years a barrel might be replaced by a new one). Blended together in oak vats and bottled with a modest dose of sulfites. Annual production is around 8000 bottles. 14% alcohol. Tasted half-blind. …

Bright, primrose; a smart nose, classy; has a stony richness (!), stylish, harmonious, silken; a lovely spicy tinge to an effortless & extended finish. Complete.

Big gold orchard on opening. With 3-4 hours air this really comes alive. Lifted, spiced, sweet golden fruit. Acid and length develop on the midpalate. A bottle of character and energy.

PnP. Bright yellow. Generous aroma of yellow/exotic fruits. Harmonious palate, lA, m+B, some bitterness, rather mellow finish. Drink now I suppose.

Intense butterscotch supplemented by peach and honey. Very rich and extracted St Joseph Blanc entering its prime. I thought this wouldn’t work as well with fatty and salty food but the weight provides a nice balance with most foods. I’ve loved every Gonon I’ve had and this continues the streak.

Quite rich, spicy, creamy, open as of now. Enjoying it, but judging from this bottle, this won't live forever. #Bateau Ivre #Tour d'Europe

There is something about Gonon. Red and white. They aren't always the most complex, can be awkward at times, but the character is off the charts. This has great fruit on the golden end of the spectrum. Tons of length in the midpalate, finishing a bit hot. The heat is easy to overlook as this is so easy to drink. Honeyed nose, with some floral and spice. A generous and honest wine. After 4 hours open this is fantastic.

Wine in the time of Corona Virus - Quarantining in NYC & NH; 3/7/2020-9/1/2020 (NYC/NH) : Purchased and opened this for the Saturday Pressoir at Home session with Jean Gonon. Revisited that evening for our weekly On-line/Off-line with friends. It was friggin delicious and I am so glad I have 3 more bottles stashed away at the offsite wine storage. For me probably one of the best expressions of St. Joseph Blanc - silky mouthfeel, rich white peach, fresh acidity …

Tasted blind. Light golden color. Notes of peach, minerals, meyer lemon, and maybe a hint of melon on the fragrant nose. Oily texture on the palate with medium acidity and notes of stone fruit, orange peel, some nut aromas, and a slight bitterness towards the medium+ finish. Lovely wine!

Weekly tasting group RWP #358: Burgundy and Northern Rhone (@ VD) : A lot of ripe tropical, yellow fruits, butter, vanilla and oak in the bouquet. On the palate a complex wine with beside the ripe and sweet, white and yellow tropical fruits a firm amount of beautifully fresh acidity 92 - 93

London Calling; 1/15/2020-1/17/2020 (Londres - GB) : Bottle opened when Churchill made the mandatory military service in Gallipoli. Evolved and loosing power on the nose and on the other hand earning astringency on the palate. Typical grip of Saint Joseph with minerality and persistence. A man from Cangas de Onís on semi-charge so what can be wrong? What has been seen in this bar I didn't order a final glass of 2014 J. Roty Cotes de Nuits Village because this …

Well, started with quite some interesting aromas, but the cork (starting on the palate) was to obvious at the end.

A Ledbury lunch (The Ledbury, London) : Pale straw. A touch of lanolin and wet wool on the nose, but more mineral and clean than anything. Similar on palate. Quite lithe, nicely mineral and with a touch of lanolin: very linear and consistent from start to finish — no development or late palate complexity but a very fine, linear wine that finishes with good length. ****

Served blind. Seems almost a white burg nose, but the palate says Rhone, with its nutty, waxy, crisp fruit, quite fresh, lively, and tasty. Loved this, note says "buy more".

Pale, starbright; sophisticated nose, rich, not overwrought; seamless, a butteriness underpinned by dash & cut; a spiky finish which time should tame. Extended length. Give this 12 months, though it may shut down. This should surpass the '15.

Served by the glass. All the fame of the Gogon house concentrated in an overwhelming density, sharp acidity where to drink and salivate everything is the same thing. On the nose at the moment is predictable and boring, without much class. I try not to have expectations with this domain. Even so. Servido por copas. Toda la fama de la casa concentrada en una densidad abrumadora, afilada acidez donde beber y salivar todo es empezar. En nariz ahora mismo es …

Sunday service at Jade Court (Chicago, IL) : Never understood this wine; don't think I ever will. Too waxy and heavy, with some juiciness from the youthful fruit here. But end of the day, nowhere enough cut, and a bit too much bitterness and alcohol on the finish.

Popped and (slightly later) poured. Nose of perfumed tropical fruit w/some nuttiness; palate continues the tropical theme plus a mineral thread, maybe a bit of pomegranate seed. The body is lush and unctuous, not really oily but richly textured and dancing on the tongue; almost creamy in a way, but not cloying with sweetness. Moderate acidity - I would not call this crisp - but enough to hold up against the fruit and moderate alcohol. The finish is medium long …

Nez sur les fruits jaunes, avec un peu de miel mais qui reste très frais. Bouche ample assez grasse avec une très belle amertume finale (amande amère). Finale un peu chaude à la montée en température. Un bon vin qui gagnera probablement à être attendu.

TnT for dinner (Sonoma) : Well this was a "wow" wine! Rich and multi-layered nose of tropical fruit, which was matched on the palate, yet with a laser-like precision and mineral backbone which made this wine remarkable. Finishes long, crisp and clean. Lovely.
