Enjoying 4 years old 100% Riesling. 12.5% ABV Straw in the glass with spread out tears Strong nose has pear, some flint and Palate is dry and racy. Med+ acid on the cheeks and an apple filled finish. Long aftertaste with wet stone and kerosene sticking through. Light body and a slightly oily texture

I have had many bottles of Poet's Leap over the years. For the first time I decanted it for 30 minutes and I had no gasoline nose when my guests first drank the wine. I love the crispness and fruit and lingering taste. Great value.

Nose has some nice petrol notes with hints of Granny Smith apples Palate starts off slightly flabby but firms up on the end with a decent finish. Feels like the acid is a little low. Still a decent wine that I enjoyed. Did buy again.

Excellent Riesling, dry, good fruit; nice lingering taste. I let it air 10 minutes and then 10 minutes in the glass before drinking.

Note this is for the *DRY* riesling. Absolutely crushable. Very different from the Long Shadows Poet's Leap Riesling which is sweet but not overly so.

My last and best bottle -- drinking surprisingly well. Lemony, just a touch of petrol, aged mushroomy bouquet. Very fresh in mouth, beautifully complex. Lip smacking long sweet/tart lemon finish.

Difficult for me to number rate, as my knowledge of riesling is limited. With that qualifier out of the way, I really enjoyed this wine. Pineapple and pear on the nose with the petrol in the background. a bit waxy in the mouth but great acidic backbone. the fruit was so pure and piercing, felt very energetic. each sip was interesting and the finish had a nice pure tropical fruit note that seemed to linger. excellent qpr

This wine has evolved in the last couple of years. Stone fruit and tropical fruits are at the forefront. The acidity that was bracing a few years ago has receded somewhat and now is really in balance with the sweetness creating a richness. The finish is on the long end of medium. Based on three tastings over 4 years, I think there is some additional aging potential. Make sure this is not too cold when serving.

50+5+13+16+6 underripe green pear, lemon zest, yellow grapefruit, ripe apricot. White floral, minerality, a hint of herb. Slight glycerin. No evidence of oak. Day bright, straw, light body, high acid. Off dry. Will benefit from additional age to bring out secondary characteristics.

A really beautiful, dry Riesling and nicely developed. Good acid structure with classic lemon and pear notes and just the barest hint of residual sugar and no tannins to speak of. Delicate yet very substantial, wonderful as a lunch wine.

Overall this was fairly average and unimpressive. Its not bad, has nice citrus, green apple, and a hint of honey, but a little tart and tight on the palate. Compared to German stuff at the same price this is not as good.

Opened this up yesterday with Thanksgiving dinner. Surprisingly strong petrol nose initially. Too much for me and more than a little offputting. It seemed to blow off somewhat with some time in the glass. I never remember the petrol tones being so dominant in previous bottles of Poet's Leap. Maybe its because this bottle is getting older and its been several years since I opened one of these. I have one more remaining and might actually consider decanting it to …

Light gold color - clear. Slightly sparkling. Good intensity nose with great complexity - white fruit as well as some citrus and tropical. Light body with great acid backbone and remarkable intensity of flavor. Amazing expression of how Riesling can be both light and intense. Sharpness in mid-palate makes it an excellent wine with food. Medium-long finish.

I didn't drink enough to take full notes. My wife/friends consumed this faster than I could blink. From what I did manage, it was great for the $19-21 price i think. Comparable to the Eroica from Chateau ste. Michelle.

The party line is this stuff is dreck. Tell you friends not to buy it. Then buy every bottle you can get your hands on. The truth is that it is really nice. It is one of the only Rieslings not from the Mosel that I consider a contender. Easily a 90+ pointer.
