Some dryness on front. It is followed by some leather and earthiness with just a hint of light blackberry jam notes. Not overly complex. 14.5% is somewhat noticeable. Easy drinking for the $15.99 purchase price in 2010/2011

Decanted 1 hour. Tobacco and spice on the nose. Wine starts the same. Has good tannins and structure/ balance. Very slight dryness on the finish. I agree with others, that it became a bit loose after a half hour or so in the glass. Perhaps showing its age. I don’t recall that from my other bottle about 8 years ago.

Agree with one of the previous tasters. Wine started out nicely with well balanced fruit and acidity but then started to tilt toward that stewed fruit element that for me makes The wine a little unbalanced. Not bad but drink up.

Read the reviews and I must have gotten lucky because mine is not bad Day 1 Fragrant with floral dominated Syrah over any fruit of Grenache. Jammy and fruit forward style. Slightly cloudy Day 2 strawberry jam aromatics with spice driven aged fruit. Slightly rotted fruit palette with a creamy mouthfeel. Great value wine which is not over the hill.

My last note of 2016 was wrong or premature! This wine has blossomed. Nicely integrated, much heftier than a typical CdR. Much more like a CdP. Good fruit, balanced tannins, full body.

Good concentration, a savory profile, there is a heavy, dark, over-ripe aspect to this, along with surprising sweetness. The alcohol feels a little pronounced. This is an interesting wine and great value.

The evolution of this wine has been disappointing. Promising when young, it has turned more pruny, flat and sweetish, port-like, losing the rugged tannin and acid backbone that I liked at first. Oh, well, it's not like it was a 1er cru or anything.

Good, middle-value CdR. This one isn't going to improve much, but I think it will hold for at least several years. There is fruit and tannin here and good body. It should continue in its drinking window. The wine is a pleasant bottle. Nothing extra.

Despite aging gracefully, and now showing secondary fragrances and flavors, this wine is meant for drinking young and I would recommend that you drink up whatever is left in your cellar. It still has an explosive Grenache nose, and the alcohol is a bit less present than when younger, but this wine (85:15 Grenache:Syrah, no wood) is all about primary flavors and so should best be enjoyed when young. Excellent QPR.

A good and mature primarily grenache (85% grenache / 15% syrah) central rhone blend daily drinker red wine and a good QPR wine. Decanted for about an hour and this helped the wine soften up. Enjoyed for dinner this evening with Chinese food and it stood up well. Somewhat muted nose of soft red fruit and strawberry. Almost syrupy sweet from this big name cooperative offering. Too many other solid Rhones to spend bucks on this mediocre one (despite low price).

Nice dark red with a touch of red, this is saturated, rich, bordering on sweet. Dark blackberry, slightly gritty nose. Blackberry, black cherry and peppery on the palate with just a bit too much sweetness. This has softened considerably since I first got it. How does Parker give this a 93? Drink up.

A very good CdR at a good price point. Liking this as well as the 2010. I consider it to be a California-style, but it's consistently so and it's not a ding in my book. Good Grenache flavor, forward but not overly so. Nice balance and persistence.

The wine looks brick colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like raisin, petrol and flint. It tastes like alcohol/hot, mineral and grapefruit. The body is medium/full. The wine has round texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has medium acidity.

My last bottle, and it's been interesting to see it evolve. Initially, it was a little too jammy. Over time, the fruit subsided but certainly didn't disappear. It added a little weight and a fair amount of complexity. Now, it's probably about to start fading.

Lots of CT tasting note drama for this wine, and I'm not sure why. My wife and I have had two bottles now and this is fine for $10 Cotes du Rhone, though behind the 2009 Cercius. The fruit and spice are there with some complexity and the wine is food friendly. We found this to be better the second night, so maybe some air or a Vinturi would help the first night.
