Hiedler Weissburgunder Spätlese Ried Schenkenbichl

Way younger tasting (and looking) than I expected. Really interesting botritis nose, but dry and light weight on the palate. Very complex and interesting fruit - stone fruits, apples, tropical fruit, loads of mineral. A thoughtful wine, rather than hedonistic; I found myself wanting a little more weight, a little more viscosity, and little more sugar. As the night went on, the wine got better and better (as it got further and further away from dessert).

1992 Retrospective Dinner (New Buffalo, Michigan) : Opened by Mark. We drank this Pinot Blanc before dinner. Light to medium yellow color which did not give away it's age. This was showing very well for it's age. Not petrol notes and rather fresh. Medium to full bodied. Notes of apple and slate. 90-91 points.
