Upon opening it smelled corky, not grossly corked, but the corkiness overshadowed it. Underneath, it is of a more medium intensity, perhaps lighter for Barbera. No tannins, some prettiness, but hard to see now under cork taint. Could be a pretty Barbera. Hmm, I guess I'd give it a try again.

Dark ruby. Not much on the nose, some dirty strawberries and sage. Light to medium bodied, sappy red fruit, slight tannins, lacks acid, and a short to medium finish. Seems to be past its peak.

This is almost exactly as I expected. Probably not designed to be held this long, the bottle age only seems to have helped. This is a relatively light bodied wine, but the color is quite dark. The nose has maraschino cherry, roses, fresh turned black earth and blueberry. The explosive flavor profile is surprising considering the relative light body. The fruit is crushed dried plum skins with mulberry, black cherry and blackberry. Some very interesting secondary flavors of caramel, red …

Order a glass when having the lunch in a restaurant just because it is the cheapest wine by the glass. Pop & pour by the waitress and it has opened for business immediately. Medium ruby red, warm nose of dark berry fruits with earth and leather. Fresh entry with black cherry, dark fruits, leather and some dusty notes. Medium bodied wine with nice acidity backbone and fairy good length too. Simple wine but nice to enjoy now with subtle tannins. …

Bright and high in acidity. Good with food, but a bit too tart on its own.

Rather tight on the nose and tart fruits on the palate immediately after opening. Didn't reveal much even after 1+, 2 hours. After a day in the fridge, this turned more into the Barbera I like: lovely, slight restrained fruit, lively acidity making it perfect food wine, and a slightly dry finish. Not sure how to analyse this, but I'll probably need to open this hours in advance for the acidity to tame itself.

Tart cherries, raspberries, coffee, and tar. Acidity dances around the tongue. Over delivers for $13.

Rather acidic, showing tart dark cherries and some oaky notes with a nice texture.Pretty solid stuff.
