Appearance - clear, Deep minus, ruby. Nose - fresh, Lucious, wonderful. It’s ripe, pure, red and black berries. Has been open about 2 hours but even upon open it had a nice nose. Intoxicating now. Jammy. Brine. Italian seasonings. Fresh. Salinity. Palate - delicious. Medium body. Tannins are medium minus and the only reason why I think it’s a wine to enjoy now versus hoping it will age into something better. Alcohol is medium. Well integrated. Acidity is medium. It’s …

Red fruit, tobacco, olive and lavender on the nose. Palate has deep multi layered intense and savory profile. Red and black fruits, meaty and savory profile with light bacon, olive and herb de provence. Silky smooth tannins, full bodied, long bramble, herb and saline finish.

This bottle wasn't stored very well, but it was drinking quite well. Blackberry, black raspberry, cherry, flowers, aged oak, olive brine, earth, and herbs on the nose. Blackberries, black cherries, saline, earth, aged oak, incense, and herbs on the palate. Decent acidity (wish there was more), integrated tannins, med-long finish. Full body. I had to double-check the label to see if it was from The Rock region, because it doesn't have that funk. That said, it's a pretty nice rendition …

First proper I've had that was a bit past. Didn't need the 45 minute decant. Was an auction purchase. Clear, deep purple with medium meniscus and high vicosity. N - Cherry, black currant, blackberry. Smoked meats, salami and Asphalt. P - of Black cherry, date, black currant, soil, salami, old leather. Perhaps this was out of acid. Still full bodied.

Power, not meaty. Delicious. 45 min decant. Clear deep purple with medium meniscus and high viscosity. Dark fruit primary on nose with crushed gravel. P full bodied with black currant, blackberry, plum and a bit of fig. Baking spices, coffee, gravel and tomato leaf all work in.

Pop and pour. In an excellent place. On the nose:.floral notes and black raspberry with olive brine and cabbage accents. On the palate: good acidity, blackberry, olive tapenade, soft herbs and completely attenuated tannin. At peak?

Huh, had one more btl of this, and it is in an excellent place. Opened three days ago and has been in the fridge overnight since. On the nose: some rocks funk, cola, olive brine, black raspberry. On the palate: lovely density and good acidity. Attenuated tannin on the finish, but this btl was still going very strong after several days open. Yum!

Decanted for about an hour and a half; maybe it could have used more. I think the wine is technically correct but maybe just not my style. I was hoping for more “Rocks” savouriness; this was more on the sweet and fruity side of Syrah, especially on the nose: ripe cherry, slick oak, slight coffee grounds note. Definitely new world. Palate is a bit more savory but still fairly ripe and fruity with more ripe cherries, slight seaweed and mushroom …

Decanted 30 mins, got meatier with time. Clear, deep purple with medium meniscus and high viscosity. Nose a mix of fruit and savory. Raspberry, blueberry, blackberry and plum. Vanilla an menthol early, tomato leaf and olive a bit later. Palate a bit less complex but integrated and lovely. Full bodied. Fine/Med+ tannins with long finish. Continued to smooth out over the course of a few hours.

My first Proper. Quite good. Nose was less powerful than expected - just hints of cherry, plum, licorice menthol and slate. Palate was more powerful and complex than expected. Cherry and Blueberry transition to lighter fruit in multiple layers. Licorice and Menthol are present but secondary. Med+ Body with balanced acid and tannins still present. Long finish. Delicious and drinking very well at this point.

Pop and pour. Notes from day 2 open. On the nose: gamey wild cherry, blackberry, rocks funk, heady, but totally what I was looking for. On the palate: blackberry liqueur, olive brine, soft heat and black pepper: excellent density, but acidity could be a bit sharper. On the finish: soft tannin, chalky blackberry, a touch of heat. An excellent btl, and drinking very well now.

Went out on a good note: this was the best showing of a proper wine I have ever had. On the nose:slightly charred bacon fat, sweet black raspberry, vanilla cola, just chock-full-of aroma. On the palate, soft acidity, but paired well with our vegan chili, dense blackberry, vanilla cream soda, soft tannin on the juicy finish. Great vintage, and a fantastic endpoint to the 2012s. Day 2: In the refrigerator overnight. This is mildly oxidized today, and not nearly as …

Figured 5 years in the cellar was long enough. Tons of sediment at the end, but actually light-bodied for a WW Syrah. Maybe because it is a little early for the rocks emphasis that has consumed that AVA. Still fruity and delicious, with medium finish.

This is a wine that drinks way beyond its price point. Black fruit, rocks funk and iodine on the nose. Medium plus body, black cherry and kirsch flavors, good peppery feel in the mouth and on the finish. Strong smoke or tar component that is just sexy. Integrated and enjoyable. On a night I also drank a spectacular 2007 Chateau de Beaucastel, this wine more than held its own. And that’s impressive.

P&P. I think this one might have seen some higher heat...wine had pushed up to the top of the cork and the flavors were slightly stewed. Drank half of the bottle on day 1 and it was pretty darn good, with black plum fruit, some tobacco and pepper flavors. Day 2 it was a stewed fruit mess...not drinkable at all after spending the night in a capped 375 ml. Drink now - 2023.

This is a favorite of mine from Washington state esp at the price point and also a favorite for some of our family members so an easy wine to choose to bring. It's got that more rocks style syrah so a bit more brine and all of that. To be honest even with the few years of age can't really tell much. But it's drinking nicely and very enjoyable.

Pop and pour. Nose with rocks cabbage/funk, some vanilla, black raspberry, olive brine. On the palate, soft acidity, but good cola and blackberry, with good salinity and a creamy mouthfeel. Soft, finely grained tannin on the finish. A very good showing.

I seem to have misplaced these btls as I planned to drink one earlier. Pop and pour, and this is very good now. Nice nose with vanilla, plum, candied bacon, and loads of brambly black raspberry. On the palate, softer acidity than I usually like, but not flabby, with some nice creamy pasty notes, and a soft finish, showing a hint of tang...no real tannin, but a touch of heat mars the finish.

This was our last bottle of this vintage, and I think it was the best one. We should have allowed these to age before drinking them. It presented mixed black fruits, blood, iron, coffee, and chocolate....a classic Syrah profile.

Sadly the last of three. As soon as the cork was pulled I knew I was in for a treat, the lavender floral nose leapt out and drew me in. Velveteen mouth of rock, olive, game and dark cocoa danced across the buds with lively acidity. Still has plenty of time left if cellared properly.

Terrific bottle of Syrah from "The Rocks"...beautiful dark purple color, strong Syrah nose of dark fruit; bit of olive & something I had never tasted before, but mentioned by another taster..."blood & raw meat"; nicely integrated spices, full bodied with a big finish on the palate. We have consumed one bottle, have one bottle left to look forward to; wish we had a case! For $35 bucks, what a buy! I would buy this one again in a heart beat!

Always a favorite and one that went very quickly. Served next to the 2014 with dinner. It's got the nice rocks flavor. Good levels of brine and blood and meat. Really enjoyable. A bit more depth of flavor than the 2014 had, but overall just very good.

Decanted. In a good place now. Loads of smoke and meat, but blueberry and rocks funk too...a hint of oak too. On the palate, acidity seems good, and sauteed cabbage, olive brine, and a touch of cola. A soft touch of tannin on the finish. Day 2. Left on the counter unrefrigerated overnight. Pretty much identical to yesterday, and yummy.
