Domaine Laurent Pere et Fils Echezeaux En Orveaux

Full garnet color; effusive floral nose of roses, lilacs and violets with strong undertones of charred oak; blue fruited, both fleshy and flashy; eminently drinkable now but best described as "a ton of fruit meets a ton of charry oak". Needs time for the two to meld, should shine in 10 years.

This did display a lot of charred oak at first and was a bit off-putting as far as the style is concerned (for me) but the material is quite impressive with tons of violet-infused raspberry, dark cherry with incense, cinnamon and soy sauce type aromas. Rich and ripe palate that shows very refined tannins today. Lots of elegance coupled with an incredible core of fruit and density without weight. Great showing for a Grand Cru this young. 94+.

Quite fine, elegant and balanced. red jube like fruit on the nose with a touch of Asian spice. Good depth on the palate with a little dried flower action running through the flavour profile. Tannins are supple and acidity bright and minerally.
