Viña Salceda Rioja Conde de la Salceda Gran Reserva

Deeper colour than some previous bottles. Richer nose and palate. Lots of rich fruit still here wrapped up in leather and spice.

Old Rioja aromas and on entry it is a pleasant example of traditional styled wine. This bottle finishes a touch short with pronounced acidity. Previous bottles have shown better.

A touch richer than traditional Rioja but certainly of that ilk. Mature with some sweet fruit (perhaps too sweet) not sure this will hold up much longer but it is very enjoyable at the moment. A tad below the previous bottle.

This bottle too oxidised so not really drinkable.

Orange colour not just at rim but throughout. Christmassy/spice nose with typical old Rioja orange peel. Hint of the polished wood/high tone notes as well, the La Rioja Alta style sharpness/acidity. Old books. There's a meaty/iron element as well. Touch of (nice) sharpness on the palate. Fruit in the background, interesting sourness and decent length. 12.5% While not great it's a very nice wine old school wine. (90-92)

Certainly end of life, but great drinking. The wine disappears in no time. Delicate, orangey, perfectly integrated. Classic old Rioja.

Looks it's age -decent nose, red fruit and oak - in mouth light-bodied and rather pleasantly drinkable - integrated tannins, bit sharp
