Spicey balsamic and plums, fresh acidity and medium plus fine tannins, a very fresh style of Rhone blend

Opened with relatively low expectations, but this turned out to be a lovely wine, the blend singing in harmony and providing good complexity for a wine of this price. Plenty of coolish dark fruit, herbs and flowers, smooth and flowing but serious and characterful too.

South Africa Trip October 2018; 10/3/2018-10/12/2018 (Western Cape, South Africa) : a blend of Grenache (80%), Syrah (15%) and Mourvedre (5%) medium body and a vibrant colour, sweet red fruits, a little bite from the tannins, a little peppery spice, juicy and easy to drink, decent finish

South African wine tour - Day six (Hemel en Aarde Valley) : Pretty, but raisined, blackberry fruit, peppery spice, a little baked earth, cream and vanilla under this. Some muted red fruit as well. On the palate it's fleshy and juicy tight but the black and red berry fruit persists, a little pepperiness on the finish and the slightly chalky tannins dry the palate. Long. Nice.
